Marvel has opened up multiple possibilities for Venom’s comeback after the climactic events in Venom: The Last Dance. Though Eddie Brock and his symbiote buddy went on different ways in order to hold a grasp on Knull, the symbiote God, Marvel has suggested at multiple instances the comeback of the iconic antihero in future movies.
However, it is not going to be easy to digest Venom appearing back in the Marvel universe. Let’s explore this mystery in detail.
What Remnants of Venom Survived The Last Dance?
Though Venom: The Last Dance concluded by displaying Venom sacrificing himself to destroy the codex connecting Eddie and Knull, there are few fractions which suggest that remains of Venom are still alive in the Marvel multiverse.
A fragment of the Venom symbiote, left behind in Earth-616 at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, has yet to be collected. This fragment could potentially make its way back to Eddie Brock or even latch onto Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, setting up a potential Symbiote Saga in the MCU.
Additionally, a single fragment of Venom is displayed surviving the wreckage of Area 55, where the piece is seen moving around in the form of a cockroach, dropping hints for a reconstitution of Venom in future installments.
Could Eddie Brock Be Headed Towards Fatherhood?
One of the most interesting scenes of The Last Dance was the speculation and theories that revolved around the aspect which says that Eddie Brock might have a future as a father.
There were heart-warming scenes displayed in the subplot where Eddie builds a connection with a young boy, Leaf, foreshadowing Eddie’s potential to be a father figure.
In the original Marvel comics, Eddie has a son, Dylan Brock, who eventually inherits the symbiote powers. If Dylan were to be introduced in future films, he could become a new host for Venom, carrying on the legacy of the Lethal Protector while shifting the story’s focus to a new generation.
Could Venom Bond with Dylan Brock Instead of Eddie?
In Marvel Comics, Dylan Brock’s distinct bond shared with the symbiote embodies him with massive powers. This plot became prominent after Eddie became the King in Black.
Dylan, inheriting Venom, takes the charge as the new Lethal Protector, which could disseminate well into Sony’s live-action universe if introduced.
But if not Dylan, we might expect a storyline stemming from the fact that Dr. Teddy Payne was observed bonding with a purple symbiote, assisting in solidifying the legacy of Venom.
Why Is Venom’s Return Necessary?
While Venom: The Last Dance had been intended to be the final chapter in the story of Eddie Brock and Venom, Marvel and Sony have deliberately left their own bits and pieces to hint at the return of the goofy-yet-violent alien.
Knull still looms as cosmic-level threat to the universe, it is expected of the franchises not to skip the guy who introduced it all to the fans, since the fight between the relatively modest Venom and Symbiote God Knull is yet to be concluded.
The presence of fragments in the post-credit scene point out to an ocean of possibilities, foreshadowing an unprecedented number and kinds of hosts in the upcoming sequels.
The iconic antihero by Marvel has got some serious things to deal with, and he’s set to return (hopefully).
Final Thoughts
Although Eddie’s journey with Venom was intended to conclude in The Last Dance, the possibilities of Venom’s return are endless. If not with Eddie, Venom might return with Dylan Brock, or as a completely new symbiote character like Scream, Agony or Toxin.
With these many (and more, of course) roadway available for Venom’s return, fans can only theorize the same but yet expect his return with all their heart.
While Sony and Marvel continue to expand their respective (and conjoint) cinematic universes, it’s safe to say that Venom will soon be back.
