Rank Rating (RR) Determiners
Four factors influence your Rank Rating (RR): Win/Loss record, Round Differential, Performance Bonus, and Convergence. Convergence plays a crucial role, multiplying your total RR based on the distance between your Matchmaking Rating (MMR) and your current rank.
If your rank is more than three levels away from your MMR, Convergence becomes the strongest factor, potentially leading to double rank-ups. However, if you’re within three ranks of your MMR, progress slows, and you’ll need to perform well to maintain your rank consistently.
Once your RR stabilizes, indicating you’re at your MMR, it becomes challenging to deviate from it significantly. This system ensures players must continually prove themselves, as past achievements won’t carry over to the next season.
Tips to Improve Your Rank
- Forge a united team: Assemble a consistent five-player squad with similar ranks to develop a cohesive unit, fostering teamwork, communication, and strategic coordination.
- Hone your skills: Regularly engage in practice sessions with bots and deathmatches to refine your aim, movement, and game sense, ensuring a strong foundation for competitive play.
- Master multiple agents: Expand your skillset by learning the abilities, strengths, and weaknesses of various agents, enabling you to adapt to different team compositions and counter opponents effectively.
- Gain ranked experience: Participate in a minimum of 20-40 ranked matches per episode to allow your rank to converge with your Matchmaking Rating (MMR), a benchmark that reflects your true skill level.
- Consistency is key: Prioritize consistent performance over match quantity, as variance in your gameplay has a more significant impact on your MMR than the total number of matches played. Strive to maintain a stable level of performance to solidify your ranking.
- Embrace challenges: Don’t shy away from formidable opponents. Instead, view them as opportunities to grow and improve. Winning duels against higher-ranked players significantly boosts your MMR. By embracing these challenges, you’ll accelerate your ranking growth and develop a stronger skill set.
By implementing these strategies, you’ll be well on your way to ascending the ranks and reaching your full potential in Valorant!
