Armor is sort of like a safety shield for players in Valheim that want to take on the numerous monsters and bosses the game throws at them. While armor is not the most important thing for survival, it can be a crucial item to ensure the players’ safety in dangerous battles. Armor does not only ensure a little protection when fighting monsters, it also adds to Valheim’s true Viking aesthetics.
Each of the biomes in Valheim represents a particular armor the player can wear. While some of the armors are not a necessary crafting item, some biomes do require certain armor if you plan on visiting them.
If you do not know where and how to get these items and even craft the armor, here’s a full armor progression guide to help you out.
1. Rag Armor

Items Needed – Leather scraps
Armors – Rag Tunic, Rag Pants

The next task in your armor progression is to gather bronze and make a bronze armor for better protection before you take out the overpowered Elder boss.
4. Bronze Armor
Biome – Black Forest
Items Needed – bronze ingots, deer hide
Armors – Bronze Helmet, Bronze Plate Cuirass, Bronze Plate Leggings
To make bronze armors, players first need to mine copper and tin ores from the Black Forest and then use a Smelter and Forge to make Bronze ingots. Then the bronze can be combined with deer hide to make useful armor. (Copper and tin can be mined using an antler pickaxe made from the hard antler gathered from defeating the first boss Eikthyr.)
Names | Items Needed | Armor Strength (Workbench Level) |
Bronze Helmet | 5x bronze 2x deer hide | 8 (Level 1) |
