During the recent Crunchyroll Expo, it was announced that Junji Ito’s manga- “Uzumaki” is getting an anime adaptation. Adult Swim announced that they are teaming up with I.G. production to create the anime adaptation of Uzumaki.
It has also already been revealed at the Crunchyroll Expo, that Toonami is going to stream the anime adaptation of Uzumaki. The series run will go up to four episodes and the series is going to be a premium offering and have a limited run. Besides this, the anime adaptation of Uzumaki is scheduled to air in 2020.
This anime series (Uzumaki) will be produced at Drive Inc. Besides this, Uzumaki will be directed by Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushi-shi, Flowers of Evil). The soundtrack of Uzumaki will be created by Colin Stetson (Hereditary, Red Dead Redemption 2).
Even the senior vice president of the Adult Swim Jason DeMarco is super happy and said, “As a huge fan of Junji Ito, I’m thrilled to be able to tackle one of his signature works, with a team of amazing creators who are all equally devoted to doing justice to this monumental work of horror manga.”
Plot
Uzumaki is a horror story of a small town known as- Kurozu-Cho situated near the coast of Japan. According to an eighteen-year-old boy- Shuichi Saito, their town- Kurozu-Cho is haunted or cursed by a spirit. Later he finds out that it is not a spirit or a person- It’s a pattern known as “Uzumaki”. Uzumaki is the pattern which is in ‘Spiral’ form and it manifests from seashells to any kind of spiral mark on the human body, even the cochlea in our inner ear. As this nuisance spreads, the citizens of Kurozu-Cho find themselves in a most dangerous Uzumaki whirlpool manifestation from which there is no return!”
