Uzumaki episode 3 ramps up the terror after the spectacular premiere and takes the viewers deeper into the twisted world of Kurôzu Town.
There is a build-up of slow-burning dread with eerie transformations and unsettling visuals that Junji Ito is known for, especially with the black-and-white color.
1. Release Date and Updates on Uzumaki Anime Episode 3
The next episode of the Uzumaki anime, episode 3 – will be released on Saturday, October 19 (Adult Swim) and Sunday, October 20 (Max).
The Uzumaki episode will first air on the American channel Adult Swim during its Toonami block. Japanese and English versions will be available for streaming on Max the next day.
2. What happens in Uzumaki episode 3?
In Episode 3, Kirie is admitted to the village hospital after encountering Sekino. There, she shares a room with her pregnant cousin, Keiko.
Kirie notices that the pregnant women in the hospital, bitten by mosquitoes, are sneaking into patient rooms to suck their blood. When Kirie tries to stop one of them, she gets attacked but repels them with mosquito spray.
A few days later, when the babies are born, Kirie notices that mushrooms are growing on the babies’ bodies. Kirie hears from Keiko that the doctor says the babies regrow their placenta as mushrooms.
Keiko is also bitten and transforms into a bloodthirsty mob and attacks the doctor. Kirie escapes from the hospital amidst the chaos and returns home to find her father obsessed with spirals, just like Shuichi’s.
Shuichi arrives and destroys the kiln when he hears the voices from within; by doing so, he releases his parents’ spirits. A storm hits the village, and the people take shelter in huts.
In the end, Yamaguchi emerges from his grave and tries to attack Kirie. The episode ends on this cliffhanger, and we can only go deeper into this uncomfortable world of spirals in episode 4.
3. What Will Happen in Episode 4 of Uzumaki?
In Episode 4, the viewers can expect a deepening of the spiral curse’s influence on the entirety of the Kurouzu village.
With the spirals consuming more people and transforming them into dreadful and mindless monsters, our protagonists, Kirie and Shuichi, may uncover more unsettling truths about the curse’s origin.
The next episode will likely explore the growing madness within Kirie’s family and the village while further spirals (Uzumaki), could appear, like in the sky. Going by the eerie trailer, we know that the natural phenomena in the village is going to be affected soon.
That will make it all real and seemingly inescapable and escalate the terror for the villagers and the audience. So, expect more creepy confrontations with the cursed villagers and the spirals manifesting in disturbing ways.
4. About Uzumaki
Uzumaki is a horror manga series by Junji Itou. It was serialized in the Big Comic Spirits manga 1998-1999. An anime production is scheduled for fall 2022.
The story starts in a small town, Kurouzu-cho. This eerie town gives birth to a spiral curse that makes people paranoid about spirals and gradually leads them to their deaths.
Kirie and Shuichi plan their escape from the town and its curse, but it is tougher than they expected.
