Adult Swim announced in the 2019 Crunchyroll Expo that they were teaming up with I.G. production to create the anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s manga- “Uzumaki.”
The series run will feature four episodes that will first premiere on Toonami as a premium offering and have a limited run before debuting in Japan.
The official Twitter account for Uzumaki’s anime adaptation announced yesterday that Uki Satake (Space Dandy’s QT) had been chosen to voice the anime’s protagonist Kirie Goshima.
The tweet also revealed a video message by Uki Satake in a similar format to Colin Stetson’s video message in March.
All these announcements continue to match the horror tone of Junji Ito’s Uzumaki manga.
Uzumaki anime’s official Twitter account had previously announced in June that its production scheduled had not been affected by the COVID pandemic and released storyboards for the anime with the same style that Junji Ito, the manga’s creator used.
Anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s Uzumaki will be directed by Hiroshi Nagahama at Production I.G and be produced by Drive Inc.
Colin Stetson, known for his work in Hereditary and Red Dead Redemption 2, will do the music composition for the series.
Uzumaki had also inspired a live-action film back in 2000 by director Higuchinsky that starred Eriko Hatsune and Fan Fhi.
Fans can’t wait for the anime rumoured to premiere in 2020 and be sent into a spiral by its exciting horror elements.
