Episode 6 of Urusei Yatsura Season 2 is titled “Kotatsu Love/ Lum Becomes a Cow.” In this episode, Kotatsu-Neko discovers a new magical kotatsu.
After buying the kotatsu for 100 yen, Kotatsu-neko takes it home and tries to put a blanket on it. However, the kotatsu runs away from the cat and refuses to get blanketed. Ataru discovers the Mendo family’s emblem and learns the kotatsu’s sad history.

Kotatsu-Neko finally received an episode for the first time this season. The mysterious kotatsu and Kotatsu-Neko story was extremely wholesome and may become a running joke throughout the season. Moreover, Lum has also gotten one more episode dedicated to her alien antics.
The next episode may focus on Ten, as he hasn’t been the main character for any of the featured episodes. As another alien hanging around Lum, Ten always ends up in wacky situations. Moreover, Ten has contacts around the galaxy with all kinds of alien species to goof around with.

Kotatsu-Neko is obsessed with a special kotatsu at the shop, and the keeper offers to sell it for 100 yen. While Ataru and Lum play board games, Kotatsu-neko sets up his new kotatsu in the house. However, the table keeps jumping around the house.
Ataru realizes the kotatsu has a mind of its own and refuses to get covered by a blanket. Kotatsu-Neko manages to pin the table down, but it starts creating a massive blizzard in the entire room. Shutaro shows up and says that the kotatsu is a part of the Mendo heirloom.
Shutaro tells Kotatsu-Neko that he has the potential to thaw the kotatsu’s heart. In the following days, Kotatsu-Neko is constantly in battle with the kotatsu. However, one day, the cat and table come to a truce and become friends instead.
Ataru and Lum visit a pet shop where a cow bites Lum’s hand. The bite leaves a mark and Lum dreams of becoming a cow the following day. While brushing her teeth, Lum finds cow horns growing on her head and gets embarrassed.
Lum and Ataru visit the nurse’s office, and Sakura diagnoses the cow bite. However, Lum gets embarrassed and leaves before saying the truth. Lum asks Ataru whether he loves cows and tries to fly away. Ataru grabs her, and Lum’s hair comes undone, revealing her cow horns.
Ataru pets Lum’s cow horns and reassures her that he will still care for her even if she is a cow. After all the drama, Ataru gets sentimental and builds a cow shed. However, Ten learns that the horns will eventually go away.

Urusei Yatsura is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi. It has a total of 374 chapters and was published from 1978 to 1987. Its anime adaptation received 195 episodes from 1981 to 1986. A new anime adaptation with selected stories began airing in October 2022.
In the series, a humanoid alien race invades the Earth but agrees that if the protagonist wins in a game of tag, they will leave it unharmed. Ataru wins against the alien girl, Lum.
Lum misunderstands and thinks Ataru is proposing marriage, and starts living with him and joins his high school. Ataru is a trouble magnet and gets stuck in weird situations pretty often.
