Episode 2 of ‘Urusei Yatsura Season 2’ is titled “Trickle of Memories.” In this episode, Ryuunosuke tries to find the truth about her mother.

Although Ryuunosuke knows that her mom died when she was a child, there was nothing more about her. Ryuunosuke asks her dad about her mom, but he confuses her even more. Their childhood was filled with multiple women who came and went, and Ryu doesn’t know which one her mom is.

After finally forcing her dad to speak the truth, Ryuunosuke regrets what she hears. Every day on TV, Ryuunosuke begs a different woman to return home.

2. Episode 3 Speculation

The Ataru household has gained a new resident after Ryuunosuke’s family drama. All Ryuunosuke wanted was to find out anything about her mom, but her dad was utterly useless. After spending so much time with multiple girls, Ryuunosuke’s dad does not even remember her mom.

The following episodes will likely feature more of Ryu since she lives away from her dad. Moreover, Ataru will constantly try to hug and be with Ryu since he is obsessed with her. The next story will likely focus on Ataru and Lum since this entire episode was focused just on Ryu,

However, Ryu may eventually run into her mom or at least find out the truth. If her mom truly did leave Ryu’s dad, she may come back to check up on Ryu someday. 

3. Recap of Episode 2

Ryuunosuke walks out of the hot springs and finds Ten sleeping upside down on a tree. Ryuunosuke brings Ten back to Ataru, and Lum invites her to dinner. The whole family has dinner with Ryuunosuke, who is not used to eating homemade food.

After returning home, Ryuunosuke asks her dad what her mom was like. However, they get into a pointless argument about it. After that, Ryuunosuke’s dad talks about how they met on the beach during summer. Ryuunosuke later realizes he’s just talking about his first crush.

Ryuunosuke’s dad continues talking about some surfer and nurse stories, mixing up women’s names and constantly lying. Ryu finally gets angry enough to run away and sees Ataru on the way. Ryu talks about her mother and how she died when she was a child.

Later, Ryuunosuke spots her dad on TV, asking for Masako to return home. During the night, Ryu constantly has nightmares about meeting her mother. However, Ryu realizes that her dad also has many sad memories of her mom leaving him.

Ryu’s classmates help find information about her mom the following day in class. They all go to Ryu’s house searching for photo albums and eventually get one filled with pictures of Ryu’s dad. Ryu’s dad finally reveals an album titled ‘My Wife and Me.’

Ryu’s dad warns her that she may regret what she sees. As Ryu flips through the pages, they find multiple girls holding a baby Ryu. It turns out that Ryu’s dad forgot who her mom was after all the girls he hung out with.

Urusei Yatsura is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi. It has a total of 374 chapters and was published from 1978 to 1987. Its anime adaptation received 195 episodes from 1981 to 1986. A new anime adaptation with selected stories began airing in October 2022.

In the series, a humanoid alien race invades the Earth but agrees that if the protagonist wins in a game of tag, they will leave it unharmed. Ataru wins against the alien girl, Lum.

Lum misunderstands and thinks Ataru is proposing marriage, and starts living with him and joins his high school. Ataru is a trouble magnet and gets stuck in weird situations pretty often.
