Episode 1 of Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan introduced us to 31-year-old Omota Uramichi, who works in the children’s educational TV program “Together with Mama.”
Being a gymnast by profession, his body trunk is stable, but sadly, that’s not quite the case for his mental state. His intense adult depression often tends to seep through his happy facial expressions.
This makes us wonder if he is really the right person to deal with children. Well, the children don’t particularly hate him despite his scary life lessons.
But how long can Uramichi continue like this? We bring you the latest episode update of this anime.
1. Episode 2 Speculation
Episode 2 is titled “Senpai and Kouhai.” It will show us Uramichi’s relation with his juniors, Mitsuo and Tobikichi, also known as Usao-kun and Kumao-kun.
“Kouhai” may also refer to Utano Tadano, who plays the role of Sister Utano in the show
The first episode gave us a rough idea about Uramichi’s life struggles, and now it’s time to find the backstories of his co-workers.
I am sure that they have their fair share of adult depression too, but somehow prevents it from affecting their profession.
The aspect that makes this series stand out from any other slice of life anime is its subtle dark humor, and I am expecting to see that even more in the upcoming episode.
2. Episode 2 Release Date
Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan Episode 2, titled “Senpai and Kohai” will be released on Monday, July 12, 2021. Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.

3. Episode 1 Recap
The first episode takes us to Uramichi Omota’s “superficially happy” daily life, thereby showing us the struggles he goes through to suppress his adult depression.
He works in a children’s TV program, Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan, where his job is to play with children and do lame stuffs like singing ABC songs and narrating unrealistic stories to children.
Being a gymnast by profession, his body trunk is quite stable, but he sure is emotionally unstable. So much that his adult darkness often seeps through his fake facial expressions, thereby filling the children with the harsh truths of life.
For example, sometimes, he fails to mimic the cheerful voice, and when the children ask about it, he bluntly replies that it’s because of his hard drinking habit.
In another instance, when the children were talking about magic, Uramichi casts a spell that will prevent them from becoming a person like him after 20 years. Again, it’s something too deep for infants to understand at such an early age.
Uramichi is well aware that the joyful and flawless world that these children are experiencing right now is completely opposite to what happens in real life once they grow up. So, he keeps giving them reality checks while during the show.
Those reality checks look a bit creepy, and the director has to cut the scene every time Uramichi goes through emotional ups and downs. I think acting like someone opposite to his nature is just worsening his condition.
However, apart from Uramichi, his co-workers have their fair share of struggles too. Mitsuo and Usahara are daily drinkers too, and none of them likes to suppress all their emotions for the sake of the job.
I wonder how long can they keep up with this act since most of them are already at their limits. Can they turn their own lives into the one they want for the children? We have to wait for the upcoming episodes to find that out.
