How to Upgrade Glyphs on the Paragon Board in Diablo 4

To excel at Diablo 4, players need many things- skills, equipment, and Glyphs. Upgrading your Glyphs is essential to progress faster in the game.

Every Glyph in the game can be leveled up, regardless of rarity. Upgrading Glyphs increases its stat bonuses and expands its radius of effect on the Paragon Board. Having multiple nodes affected means you are that much closer to the endgame.

Upgrading Glyphs can be done in the following ways:

  1. Complete Nightmare Dungeons and allocate XP to the glyphs.
  2. Interact with the Awakened Glyph that is surrounded by a protective bubble shield.
  3. Allocate XP earned from the Nightmare Dungeon to the chosen glyph.
  4. Once the glyph has gained enough XP, it will level up and gain stronger effects.

After running a Nightmare Dungeon, an altar will appear at the end of the dungeon. This will happen if you have completed it within the time limit. This is where you can upgrade your Glyphs.

You can spend your Glyph XP at the altar to upgrade your Glyphs. Be strategic, as leveling up Glyphs becomes increasingly expensive as they progress. The more challenging the dungeon, the more Glyph XP you’ll be able to receive.

2. Why should you upgrade Glyphs?

2.1 Increased Primary and Secondary Bonuses

Each Glyph has a primary and secondary bonus and leveling them up enhances these effects. This means your character’s attributes will be buffed permanently with every upgrade.

2.2 Expanded Effect Radius

Every Glyph has a radius of effect on the Paragon Board. The spaces are called nodes and upgrading Glyphs increases this radius, allowing them to affect more nearby nodes. At every 15 levels, the radius expands by one additional node.

3. Tips for Efficient Glyph Upgrades

3.1 Get to Lvl 15

Reaching level 15 with Glyphs should be a priority. At level 15, the Glyph’s radius expands, affecting more nodes on the Paragon Board. This will give your character more efficiency and bring the best results for the Glyphs.

3.2 Run the Hardest Dungeons

As a rule of thumb, players should focus on running the hardest dungeons. It would be best if they were Nightmare Dungeons.

The best way to farm Glyph XP is by repeatedly running the hardest Nightmare Dungeons. Higher-tier dungeons yield more Glyph XP, so focus on the more difficult dungeons to speed up the leveling process.

3.3 Think Before You Upgrade

Players must remember that upgrading a Glyph is permanent, and Glyph XP cannot be refunded. This is unlike a skill tree reset. Glyphs can make or break a character build, so make sure you’re upgrading the right Glyphs for your build before spending your hard-earned XP.
