Marvel Reveals Details About Letitia Wright’s Serious On-Set Injuries

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has officially started its production hiatus. The crew received a special note from the studio, which also indicates that Letitia Wright’s injury is more serious than earlier publicized.

In August, Wright sustained injuries on set, after which she was flown back home to London and has been recuperating ever since.

It is expected that her character, Shuri, will be taking on the mantle of Blank Panther, at least for Wakanda Forever. Which is why, after the film shot as much as they could without Wright, they decided to take a break until 2022.

Now the crew has received a special note from Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Nate Moore officiating the hiatus. The memo thanked the crew for their hard work as well as shared the production timeline. For now, the return to work date has been set for January 2022, but specifics will be put out later.

The note also outlines the fact that Wright’s injury is worse than previously reported. Read the statement here:

In addition, as you are all aware, Letitia had a frightening accident on our set during a stunt back in August. It was a reminder of the importance of safety at all times in our work, which we know you understand and are committed to. What we had initially thought were minor injuries turned out to be much more serious with Letitia suffering a critical shoulder fracture, and a concussion with severe side effects.

Now besides Wright’s injury, her unvaccinated status could also delay the production. The US has set a new mandate for all foreign nations to be double vaccinated before boarding a flight.

It is unknown whether Wright has taken/is planning to take the Covid-19 vaccine in order to be able to film in the US.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to give the late Chadwick Boseman a worthy goodbye as his title of Black Panther is passed on.

Fans will see Wakanda clash with another highly advanced civilization — Atlantis. On this front, Namor the Submariner, will also make his MCU debut with several rumors claiming that Tenoch Huerta will be playing the role.

As of now, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to release in theatres on November 11, 2022.
