The Transformers are set to return to the big screen shortly with a surprising new title that indicates a tie-in with the most admired Bumblebee and the Beast Wars incarnation of the franchise.
Under Michael Bay’s leadership, the first live-action Transformer films launched in 2007, making them some of the biggest, loudest exhibitions available at the box office.
After the release of 2017’s critically mauled Transformers: The Last Knight, director Michael Bay split up with the franchise to work on more original material, leading the studios to reboot. After 2018’s Bumblebee, the franchise regained momentum, which was a significant hit and a modest box office success.
Paramount Pictures is ready to rekindle the hugely famous Transformers franchise, as Creed 2 director Steven Caple Jr. takes the franchise’s harnesses. Fans have since wondered what’s next in store for the Autobots and Decepticons on the silver screen.
The next Transformer movie currently has a working title of Transformers: Beast Alliance. It’s being defined as a globe-spanning heist journey set in continuity with the Bumblebee movie and will occur in the 1990s. However, Hailee Steinfeld will probably not return, as the movie is looking to cast a new lead human character.
The 1996 animated series where the Maximals and Predacons were pitched against each other on prehistoric Earth as they battle for their species’ future is widely considered one of the most promising pieces of Transformers’ saga of all time.
Beast Wars has sprung up again later in the Transformers toyline and tie-in media with the sub-line Kingdom. Kingdom is also set to be the last part of the War For Cybertron trilogy on Netflix. It’s a much-admired part of Transformers history, and in some ways, it makes perfect sense to reboot the franchise, utilizing that portion of the Transformers mythos.
Transformers desperately need a box office win. Critics accepted Bumblebee well, but it largely got snuffed out by Aquaman and Mary Poppins Returns at the box office. The film made money, but not on the status of the most profitable of the Bay films.
