Valkyrie will get her own Disney+ series after Thor: Love and Thunder. Taika Waititi’s Thor introduced us to Tessa Thompson, the Valkyrie. The fierce Asgardian warrior reprised her role in Avengers: Endgame, in which Thor made her the Queen of Asgard. She will be returning in the Thor: Love and Thunder, establishing her as the first female LGBTQ character of the MCU.
Talk is that Marvel may have bigger plans for Valkyrie and she may play a more significant part in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It looks like she is likely getting her own Disney+ series in Phase 5 of the MCU. Marvel has already announced Ms Marvel and She-Hulk series, and Valkyrie may be the next female character to get her own series.
Valkyrie’s journey in MCU
Ragnarok established her character as the sole survivor of Asgard’s female warrior squad before Hela massacred all of them. After that, she spent her life in alcohol-fueled and self-imposed exile, away from her people. Valkyrie worked as a scrapper at Sakaar, the Grandmaster’s planet and became a drunk.
After destroying Asgard and defeating Hela, she went along Thor towards Earth. However, after Thanos attacked, Valkyrie was one of the few survivors. She appeared in Avengers: Endgame in a minor role at the end of the movie after which Thor made her the new King of Asgard.
There is a lot more to know and explore about her, including her Warrior days and the time she spent in exile. Tessa Thompson confirmed the bisexuality of Valkyrie and that she will journey to find her queen. The joining of another female character in the mainstream MCU, probably indicates the formation of A-force, a female Superhero team.
The show for She-Hulk, Scarlet Witch and Ms Marvel are already confirmed and we may soon get an official statement for the Valkyrie series. The MCU is really setting up one thrill after another
