The alphabet network ABC is coming soon with yet another promising comedy United We Fall on July 15. Based on a Latinx Catholic family, this ‘realistic’ sitcom follows the struggles to manage parenting in a big joint family setup.
Watch the trailer here:
‘Parenting can be tough’, goes ABC’s official synopsis, but ‘throw some overzealous extended family members’ and it’s a sure shot recipe for disaster. Hence the name United We Fall!
So the story follows Bill, played by Will Sasso and Jo, played by Christina Vidal Mitchell as they go through the ‘trials and tribulations’ of raising two young children while managing the judgements of their extended family members that they have got it all wrong.
It seems like a good time in the world for a clash of values between the old times and new, provided the most liberal ones win in the end.
With some Seth Gordon humour, who is just back the show but we trust in Gordon, it could be a promising long term series.
Because we will see the couple, Bill and Jo, stand united against all the loving criticism, including that from other parents, teachers, doctors, specialists, coaches, co-workers and especially their kids.
The show could make a valuable addition to the list of ABC’s successful family comedies including The Goldbergs and The Conners. Both of these are easily in the top 4 of US TV comedies today.
Then there is the Emmy nominated black-ish (you must have heard that title somewhere!) and its sequel mixed-ish.
The show also stars Guillermo Diaz (‘Scandal’) and Jane Curtin (‘Saturday Night Live’). While it is written and executive produced by Julius “Goldy” Sharpe (“Making History”) with Seth Gordon and Julia Gunn as her fellow EPs.
United We Fall is set to premiere with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, July 15 (8:00–9:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. The episodes can also be viewed the next day on demand and on Hulu.
