Fuuko and her team enjoy school life in chapter 169 of Undead Unluck, titled “School, That Is.”

It was a cute and fun chapter. Fuuko tried to blend in with all the students and grow a friendship with Shigeo without standing out, but her excitement always ruined things for her.

That was not the case with only her, as Shen as well stood out a lot. They both are facing quite some difficulty not to be outstanding. Still, Fuuko finds it all beautiful, and it filled me with nostalgia.

Fuuko will continue with her efforts to grow a friendship with Chikara in chapter 170 of Undead Unluck.

This arc seems to be filled with lots of funny and sweet moments. I am all in for the ride and wish that this arc goes on for some time before the tragedy hits us.

However, it won’t take time for things to go wrong as Shigeo might manifest his ability anytime. I think it will happen in either the next chapter itself or soon after that. Till then, let’s just enjoy these sweet moments.

4. Chapter 169 Recap

The teacher asks Shigeno a question, but Fuuko jumps in and answers correctly. Everyone is surprised by her excitement. In a small flashback, Fuuko tells everyone that they will befriend Shigeno to prevent his tragedy.

Sean asks her if she will be fine, and she tells him that she has prepared herself by reading teen manga. After class, students start gathering around Fuuko, telling her it was the first time they saw someone raise their hand to answer a question.

She gets worried about standing out, but Shigeo comes up to thank her. She gets excited to talk to him and slips her tongue a number of times. Shigeo finds her funny.

They head for the P.E. class. Shen and Fuuko easily stand out while doing some exercise. So much so that some students start calling them creepy. Fuuko decides she will make up for it all in the next class.

However, in the next class, she starts speaking perfect English as if she is a native speaker. During recess, Shen and Fuuko get followed by many students. She runs away to the roof.

The door is closed, but Gina uses her power to unlock the door. Reaching the rooftop, Fuuko feels overwhelmed and exclaims that the school is an amazing place where students find love and dreams and compete with each other, creating numerous memories.

She says loudly that they should make plans to get closer to Chikara. Just at that moment, he shows up on the roof and hears it all. He invites her to join him for lunch. She agrees but not before making it all awkward.

Undead Unluck is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since January 2020. As of May 2023, it is collected into 16 volumes.

The story follows Fuuko Izumo who has the ability to bring bad luck to anyone she touches. Tormented by her ability, she decides to commit suicide but fate intervenes when she meets Andy, an undead person who wishes for the ‘best death.’ The pair joins the mysterious organization, Union, which consists of people like Fuuko and Andy, and go on missions given by a book called ‘Apocalypse.’
