Sean Datz had been hiding behind everyone all this time. We had no idea that Fuuko had already recruited him. He didn’t have to do anything until now and shows up when the plot needs him to. 

We saw his backstory, and it was pretty heart-touching. Being a side character always feels sad, but no one can feel sad when we have Fuuko with us. Just like any other time, she convinced Sean to fight again.

Sean Datz always wanted to be the main character, but he is now stuck in a side role in the battle as he hides from Creed’s machine gun. We learn that Sean was recruited by Fuuko even before the battle began.

Sean got ready to help Fuuko as he thought he would be the center of attention, and Fuuko was in dire need of his superpower, Unseen. He has been invisible all this time while the rest of the team was fighting for their lives (not really!).

Currently, Fuuko asks for his help, but he yells at her as he is unaware that it will be a real battlefield. He tries to run away, but the emblem Fuuko stuck on her head is visible, and Creed starts firing at him.

He tries to run off again and convince Creed he is not with Fuuko, but Creed doesn’t listen and calls him a miscast. Seeing everyone fight so hard, Sean gets depressed, and we dive into his backstory again.

He always wanted to be a big actor, but his ability makes him invisible whenever he blinks his eyes. Now, he has become the talk of the town, but nothing works in his favor.

That was when a gangster hired him. Fuuko interrupts his flashback and tells him he is not a side character. She begins her motivational speech just like any shounen protagonist, convincing him to stand back up again.

In the previous loop, he could only make himself and the things that belong to him invisible. Sean is reminded of a conversation with his father where his father tells him that being cast as a side character doesn’t bother him much because of Sean.

Now, Sean can also make his allies invisible. Hence, Fuuko sneaks Creed from behind with his ability and hits Creed hard in the back, making him lose control of the gun.

Undead Unluck is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since January 2020. As of May 2023, it is collected into 16 volumes.

The story follows Fuuko Izumo who has the ability to bring bad luck to anyone she touches. Tormented by her ability, she decides to commit suicide but fate intervenes when she meets Andy, an undead person who wishes for the ‘best death.’ The pair joins the mysterious organization, Union, which consists of people like Fuuko and Andy, and go on missions given by a book called ‘Apocalypse.’
