Space Battleship Yamato is so iconic that it has been influencing space and military-themed anime for ages. Even now, the franchise hasn’t stopped releasing fresh content for its fans, both old and new.
The franchise has been remaking some of its classics, and its latest project is the film duology Space Battleship Yamato 2205, a remake of the 1979’s The New Voyage.
The new film series adapts the entire plot of the 1979 film with some epic animation and additional scenes.
The first part of this latest film duology premiered in October 2021 and sent a wave of thrill through the entire fandom. Although agony and crisis await at every corner of this story, we still can’t wait till the second part debuts.
Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage Part II: Stasha has revealed a short teaser for the film’s premiere on February 4, 2022.
The whole teaser packs an eerily distressing vibe while showing a bloody war waiting for our heroes.
Even after Desslar and the Yamato crew join forces to fight, there is no guarantee that they will win against the vicious Dark Nebula Empire.
We also get a glimpse of Stasha joining the war to assist her allies with her powers. I am not sure what ace Stasha has up her sleeve, but it can turn the tables in our heroes’ favor, which relieves me a bit.
While we all know that the Yamato crew will win, there are still the consequences they’ll have to face for it. Most importantly, none of us are ready for the kind of sacrifices that will be made for the sake of victory.
I didn’t want to say this, but after looking at the teaser, I have a feeling that Stasha’s trump card might be the ultimate sacrifice.
We all love an original and unexpected ending, but it might come at the expense of our favorites dying. I am not ready for what the film has in store, yet I am excited for it to be released.
Let’s see what the future holds. I suggest you be ready with your box of tissues.
