Ubisoft confirmed the open-world pirate game Skull and Bones in 2017. Although initially slated for release in 2018, the title has faced several delays, which has led to a monumental disappointment among fans. Things were starting to look up when Ubisoft revealed the game would be finally launching on November 8, but that seems impossible now.
Ubisoft has announced a new release date for Skull and Bones, which is March 9, 2023. This will be the game’s fifth delay.
In the official statement, Ubisoft mentioned that although the development of Skull and Bones is over, the results of various technical tests and the insider program persuaded the team to spend some extra time polishing the game.
The company also stated that fans should look out for more open Beta sessions shortly.
The first delay pushed the launch date to 2019-2020. However, after there were no further reports, it was assumed the game was again delayed to 2020, then to 2021. Recently, the game was again put off for 2022-2023, announcing a release date of November 8.
During this period, reports of a toxic work culture at Ubisoft Singapore took everyone by surprise. Whether the hostile environment contributed to Skull and Bones’ postponement remains unconfirmed.
Ubisoft confirmed the game would be priced at $70. As revealed at the Gamescom 2022 event, Skull and Bones will feature the latest AI upscaling technologies and support raytracing, uncapped framerate, multi-monitor, and ultra-wide display support.
Skull & Bones releases on March 9, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC.
