After being announced all the way back in 2017, we finally have a fair idea of what Ubisoft’s Avatar action-adventure game will look like. Yesterday, at E3 2021’s Ubisoft Forward event, the developers welcomed gamers back to Pandora with a new trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Frontiers of Pandora will be the first game after Ubisoft Montreal’s ‘Avatar: The Game’ based in the fictional world first introduced in James Cameron’s 2009 pathbreaking film ‘Avatar’.
However, unlike the former, the new title will be a first-person game. According to the release and platform details mentioned at the end of the trailer, the game is set to arrive for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Stadia, and Luna, in 2022.
The cinematic trailer showcases a gorgeous Pandora with the native Na’vi fighting off human invaders, much like in the original film. The footage used in the trailer is said to be in-game footage captured in Ubisoft’s in-house Snowdrop Engine. The trailer also shows some of Pandora’s unique wildlife, which looks fantastic from a character design perspective.
While the trailer didn’t do much in terms of revealing the story of the game, the game’s description on the Ubisoft Store reads the following:
In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.

Avatar’s place in pop culture has long been debated, with many questioning if the franchise’s popularity is well-deserved. But with Frontiers of Pandora and three new films on the way, it seems that the Na’vi will be around for a while and that too in different mediums.
If the trailer has excited you enough, the game is currently available to wishlist on the Ubisoft Store.
