Ubisoft will celebrate its 15th birthday this November 13, but it turns out the company loves a party just as much as we do. Therefore, it kicked off its birthday celebration a bit early yesterday with Assassin’s Creed 15th Anniversary Celebration live stream.
During the event, the beloved game maker revealed a plethora of gaming content it has in store for AC Valhalla, including a brand-new Roguelite-mode.
Dubbed Forgotten Saga, the new game mode for AC Valhalla will release sometime this summer for free and will consist of Roguelite features such as perma-death, procedurally generated maps, and much more.
The upcoming mode will put us in control of Odin as he forces his way to Niflheim to take on the realm of the dead. Like any other Roguelite formula, this DLC will revolve around fighting increasingly troublesome foes and enhancing your weapon arsenal.
Furthermore, Ubisoft revealed that its support for AC Valhalla would come to a conclusion this year, but thankfully, it sounds like Eivor’s tales will end on a high note. After the release of Forgotten Saga, the developer plans on rolling out a “final chapter” towards the end of 2022.
While this “final chapter” does not appear to be as grand as a DLC, it can hopefully answer a slew of mysteries that lurk in the corners of AC Valhalla. This means that there’s a good chance we’ll finally find out how Eivor ended up at Vinland.
Thankfully, just like the Forgotten Saga, this last bit of new content will be free as well.
Lastly, Ubisoft also announced a special event for September 2022 where it plans to bring “the future of Assassin’s Creed” to light. It remains to be seen whether it’d be the stealth-focused AC Rift or the live-service AC Infinity that game makers plan on unveiling next but nonetheless, it’s great to have something to look forward to.
No official details were allotted to any of the announcements made, so for now, it looks like all enthusiasts can do is wait for the confirmations to come through.
