While Elden Ring has a lot in store for us, leaks have given us a fair picture of what to expect. We already know quite a bit about game aspects such as biomes, enemies, combat mechanics, and the character creator tool as well, thanks to the datamine that happened after the network tests back in November. However, the publisher has revealed some new info of their own accord – two new character classes.
The announcement was made on Twitter, where the two classes – The Vagabond and The Hero – were given some backstory. The Vagabond is described as a “knight exiled from their homeland to wander. A solid, armor-clad origin”, while The Hero is “at home with a battleax, descended from a badlands chieftain.” That is all we know so far about these two classes, but we can expect more information in the coming days.
The Vagabond looks like a knight past his glory days, sporting rusty armor caked in dirt and covered in a tattered cloak. The Vagabond’s weapon of choice is a greatsword, and they also carry a sheathed short sword at the waist. The Hero features a barbarian look with a battleax and light hide armor that doesn’t protect the torso.
There were five classes available to try during the network test, with The Bloody Wolf looking like the quintessential Souls character with a greatsword, medium armor, and a round parry-focused shield, while The Champion is a tank build focused on heavy attacks and magic. The Enchanted Knight is a Strength and Intelligence based character, but the most crucial attribute is that the shield absorbs 100% damage.
The Prophet is a magic-focused, ranged character who favors Incantations and has the highest points in the Mind stat. Finally, The Warrior is a high-risk, high-reward close combat specialist. The high Endurance stat allows for ample dodge stamina while remaining close enough to deal damage.
Elden Ring is less than a month away now, and fans are eager to explore The Lands Between and see what new wonders – and horrors FromSoftware has planned for them. The game will launch on February 25th.
