The Walking Dead announced the title of Norman Reedus’ spinoff series in September 2022. The following month, the TWD actor shared that the titular character would begin his latest adventure in Paris in 2023. The spinoff’s EP Greg Nicotero revealed an interesting new detail for the upcoming TV series – Daryl Dixon takes on a new Walker variant in France.
Daryl Dixon is already in mid-production, filming having begun earlier this year, and will premiere on AMC roughly a year after the original series wraps up its eleventh and last season. The Walking Dead has several spinoffs in the works, including Daryl Dixon, Dead City, and a Rick-Michonne spinoff.
The Walking Dead season 11 did introduce a faster and smarter zombie mid-season. With more advanced and newer variants of the zombies spotted in France, as shown in The Walking Dead: World Beyond, viewers are waiting to see more upgraded versions of the walking dead.
As seen above, EP Greg Nicotero took to Instagram to share an image revealing a more skeletal and burned-up zombie husk, teasing a new variant Daryl Dixon might face in his show in Paris. The variant looks like a dead zombie, but with the evolution of different zombies, we think Dixon may face a new problem in a new country.
Details about the spinoff are scarce, but if we know Daryl and his bow, he’ll find a way to survive in the land of the French and the dead just fine.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiered on September 10, 2023, and will consist of six episodes. In July 2023, ahead of the first season’s release, the series was renewed for a second season.
