Tsurune: The Linking Shot Ep11 Release Date, Speculation, Watch Online

Nikaido’s story finally comes out into the open in episode 10 of Tsurune: The Linking Shot, titled “Draw of a New Dawn.”

The frustration built over many years finally begins showing in Nikaido’s behaviour as he picks fights and storms off during training sessions. As much as Masaki and Minato try and get through to him, he refuses all their advances.

An incident with his uncle in the hospital finally brings things into the light as he talks about his past and the reason behind his motivation and unhealthy rivalry.

1. Episode 11 Speculation: 

The next episode will likely have Nikaido rekindling his relationship with his team now that he’s gotten a new view on kyudo after the incident with his uncle and the talk with Masaki and Minato. His team will emerge even more potent than they are now that he is back on the right path.

We may also see more of Shu as he continues his practice for the nationals and his team improving steadily as time progresses. Kazemai’s team is also slowly improving their ikiai and will surely master it soon.

3. Recap of Episode 10:

We see a flashback of Nikaido applying to the kyudo club at the start and handing a form straight to an Aragaki in disbelief. Meanwhile, in the present, Kazemai and Nikaido’s team are preparing for their match.

However, the match ended as expected, with Nikaido’s winning again. Their work in progress, ikiai, is still nowhere close to how well Nikaido has mastered the art. 

Minato asks Fuwa what their secret is, and he agrees that he investigate his rivalry with Shu, something Minato hasn’t even noticed before, but everyone else has already caught wind of; nobody knows the backstory.

Fuwa says that he pretends that he is Nasu no Yoichi from ancient Japanese history whenever he’s in a match. It’s something he is interested in, and thus it helps him focus much beyond what he should be able to normally, and he adapts to his teammates easily. 

They discuss the new information they received, decide to change their formation the next day, and hopefully progress in their ikiai. At the bath, Masaki and Nikaido meet again and discuss their match and the consequences of losing.

Masaki talks about his solo practice sessions; he’s landed 211 consecutive shots and finally begins to understand the secret behind kyudo. It’s not something where you land 100 shots and become enlightened with god-like skill but something you both fail and succeed at.

Nikaido is extra frustrated at the training the next day and even begins picking a fight with his club members and storming off afterwards. Switching up positions has made it easier to see some progress in their training, and Kazemai finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately, Minato gets stuck in the elevator with Nikaido and has to wait around half an hour in the dark together. Minato talks about the incident that had him quit kyudo for an extended period of time because he couldn’t perform like he wanted to.

He also talks about how much he’s admired Nikaido and his team, but he gets frustrated at how he’s misunderstood the group entirely. Immediately after, Nikaido receives a call saying that Shigeyuki passed out and has been taken to the hospital, putting him over the edge and rushing out of the elevator.

Masaki drives begin driving Nikaido as they talk about his uncle and situation, and he finally opens up about his past. Shu’s messages to Minato also start making sense, as well as Masaki’s suspicions. Nikaido reaches his bedside, and they finally meet each other once again.

Minato and Masaki begin getting a little more philosophical on the ride and try to find out why they all keep going at kyudo as they do. Nikaido falls asleep on Shigeyuki’s bed, and even the relationship between Nikaido and the rest of the team is slowly beginning to rebuild.

Tsurune is a light novel by Kotoko Ayano which was adapted into an anime series by Kyoto Animation in 2018. As of 2022, three volumes have been published under Kyoto Animation’s KA Esuma Bunko imprint.
