‘Totto-chan, the Little Girl at the Window’ talks about Kuroyanagi’s learnings at the Tomoe Gakuen school, an elementary school she attended after getting expelled from her previous school.

The book became a bestseller, selling 4.5 million copies in its first year of publication, and was translated into more than 20 languages. As of today, the book has sold 25 million copies.

I am impressed at how everything looks. The color and the animation have a modern gloss and smoothness, but the designs have the classic touch that we see in old anime. The railroad car classrooms were something that made Kobayashi memorable, and I am glad this story is reaching out to a bigger audience.
