Speaking of dealing with complex human emotions, Given has too much depth just to be called your regular BL anime. Recovering from a recent tragedy, all Mafuyu has is his past lover’s guitar to tether him to reality. Meanwhile, Uenoyama has been in a creative rut long enough for him to contemplate quitting music. Did someone say sports and romance? I present to you, one of the most celebrated new-age anime with teeth-rotting fluff and a healthy sports romance for the ages. The story features Japanese figure skater, Yuri, suffering from burnout after a devastating loss in an international competition. However, his rendition of the acclaimed (and criminally attractive) Russian figure skater Victor’s dance routine catches the attention of the said male, and somehow, Yuri ends up with Victor as his coach. There’s a steady increase in Yuri’s skills, scores, and spirits, all courtesy of Victor. A lovely romance unfolds on the ice rink that will thaw your heart out.

Dokyuusei fans, this one is for you. Cavity-inducing sweet and wholesome anime that will trigger a giggle-fest, Sasaki and Miyano is the modern-day BL blueprint. Its simplicity is the charm.
