The TV schedule looks incredible in September, as multiple fan-favorite shows, such as Cobra Kai and Abbott Elementary, return with a new season. Besides these, we also have a few new promising series such as The Rings of Power and Andor premiering this month.
So, here’s a complete list of the most anticipated TV shows arriving in September on platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and more:
- The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
- Star Wars: Andor
- Cobra Kai (Season 5)
- The Handmaid’s Tale (Season 5)
- Abbott Elementary (Season 2)
- Rick and Morty (Season 6)
- American Gigolo
- House of Hammer
- Atlanta (Season 4)
- Tell Me Lies
1 The Rings of Power (September 2, Amazon Prime Video)
Besides House of the Dragon, the Rings of Power has been one of the most anticipated shows this year. In fact, at the recent Comic-Con, it had one of the biggest panels besides The Sandman.
The creators kept the storyline and many other crucial details under wraps until it dropped the trailer last week. It showcased glimpses of a storyline that hasn’t been explored in the live-action media so far.
So, naturally, fans are quite pumped about the show. After all, the series will depict not one but four rings of power.
2 Star Wars: Andor (September 21, Disney+)
After Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor would be the next series adding to the Star Wars lore. Cassian Andor first appeared in Star Wars: Rogue One. After that, we’ll be seeing him again in his own show.
The plot will explore his character, divulge his origin story, and contextualize the war against the Empire from a new perspective. The series will go back to his childhood to understand his mindset and showcase his journey to becoming an accomplished Intelligence Officer who fought against the Empire.
3 Cobra Kai (September 9, Netflix)
Cobra Kai is returning with the fifth season, and I can’t keep calm. Just when you thought the stakes couldn’t get any higher, the trailer revealed a new villain.
Packed with action, drama, and a lot of emotions, Season 5 will introduce some new characters who can change the future of Miyagi-Do Karate. If you’re a fan of the show and have enjoyed it so far, you’ll most likely be blown away by what’s coming next.

4 The Handmaid’s Tale (September 14, Hulu)
Speaking of Season 5, The Handmaid’s Tale is back again, with June and Serena confronting each other in what could be the final standoff. The show is long past the book’s storyline and has taken a completely different turn.
While there has been no confirmation yet, Season 5 might be the last one in this epic saga. Season 4 had an open-ended finale because there were quite a few loose ends. After Commander Fred Waterford’s murder, his wife, Serena Joy, is still alive.
More importantly, Serena still holds Hannah, June’s elder daughter, captive. We also need to see what happens between her lover, Nick, and their daughter Nichole.
If Season 5 is the finale, it will most likely wrap these ends with the showdown between June and Serena. If you’ve followed this tale so far, you wouldn’t want to miss how it all ends.

5 Abbott Elementary (September 24, Hulu)
ABC’s big hit Abbott Elementary is also returning with a second season. The series follows a mockumentary format while depicting the lives of staff and students at the public school Abbott Elementary.
If you’ve been watching some hardcore shows like the previous one, ABC’s sitcom can act as a palette cleanser. Season 1 hilariously depicted the lives of the teachers and administrators at the school. It also took a dig at the issues of the public school system in America while showcasing how our childhood heroes are also human.
6 Rick and Morty (September 4, HBO Max, Hulu)
The brilliant scientist and his grandchild/disciple are ready to embark upon more adventures. The series did not confine itself to the regular narrative or any premise for the first three seasons.
However, after it was renewed for 70 episodes, the fourth and fifth seasons had a plot and character arc blended with its serialized storytelling format. Season 5 ended with a bang and gave us an idea of how big Season 6 could get.
The possibilities seem endless, which means that there will be more madness, eccentricity, and utter chaos. If you haven’t watched Season 5, then now would be a good time to catch up and prepare for the next installment.

7 American Gigolo (September 9, SHO)
American Gigolo is a TV adaptation of the 1980s Richard Gere film of the same name. It is about a high-profile sex worker who gets accused and imprisoned for a murder he didn’t commit.
When the protagonist, Julian Kay, comes out of prison after serving a sentence of ten years, the man is pulled back into the same world and tries to find answers. What happens next is the story.
Jon Bernthal has appeared in several TV shows and films, but his most noteworthy work has been in Marvel’s The Punisher. Seeing him once again in the role of a protagonist in this gritty drama-thriller will be a treat to watch.
8 House of Hammer (September 2, Discovery+)
House of Hammer is a three-part documentary that essays the family history of Armie Hammer. The show will not only address the various sexual abuse allegations against the actor but will talk about his lineage, going all the way back to his great-grandfather.
9 Atlanta (September 15, Hulu)
Atlanta is a comedy-drama show that depicts the lives of four boys who grew up in Atlanta. The show, known for its absurdist approach, will be returning for the fourth and final season. This is another TV series you can watch as a breather between the heavy shows you will be following this month.
