Black Clover by Yuki Tabata has changed how fantasy manga is made. It is the story of a boy with a dream, but no talent yet he refuses to give up – what’s not to like?
The journey of Asta becoming Wizard king without a drop of magic in him has inspired a lot of works. Some of them are eerily reminiscent of Black Clover.
5 Ichi the Witch
The manga plus description of Ichi the Witch is as follows- In this world, witches must hunt down their magic! Deep in the forest, the terrifying king of magic and the strongest witch are locked in deadly combat.
Suddenly, a young boy joins the fray. His name is Ichi, and he is just a hunter. But he can flip the magic world upside down in this magic-hunting fantasy epic! Similar to how Asta flipped the magic world upside down without using magic.
4 Wistoria: Wand and Sword
Student Will Serfort can’t cast a spell in a world where magic reigns. Though hardworking, Will’s classmates think less of him for it. However, he has a secret strength: his sword. Can Will defy expectations with muscle over magic and blade over wand? Find out in this epic sword-and-sorcery adventure!
Asta Will uses weapons to combat magic and brute force to defeat foes. The manga seems to have been inspired from Black Clover itself, the personality of the main character being slightly unique.
3 Mashle
Mash is born into a world of magicians, a young boy who lacks magic but is the strongest person. His existence and destiny will change his world.
Mashle also has no magic talent and has to survive in a world where mages reign supreme. Watch his journey to being the strongest in the world without using magic.
2 Muscles are Better Than Magic!
This manga is similar to both Black Clover and One Punch Man. The latter is not in the complete parody sense, but due to the protagonist training himself to the extremes in a place with a harsh environment (not bald, thankfully).
Like Asta, muscles over the brain and the main characters have trained themselves to the point that they can withstand magic with their physical self.
1 My Hero Academia
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. Like Black Clover’s Asta, the MC here is untalented to the highest extent.
With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life looks increasingly like a dead end. Then, an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero, gives him a chance to change his destiny.
