Reincarnation is a pretty popular theme in anime that has been around for quite a while now. In these anime, characters get to start anew, often with special powers or knowledge from their past lives, turning them into an asset in their new worlds.
Whether you’re a big-time anime fan or you’re just starting out, these five reincarnation anime are sure to take you on quite the adventure.
5 Seven Deadly Sins
Most people wouldn’t know, but reincarnation is a really important theme in Seven Deadly Sins. Well, one of the main characters of the series (who shall not be named here) have died and reincarnated several times within the story.
The story follows Elizabeth Liones, the princess of Liones Kingdom, who embarks on a journey to find the most vicious criminals, Seven Deadly Sins. They are Meliodas, Ban, Dianne, Merlin, Escanor, Gowther, and King.
Ten years ago, all the sins were banished from the Kingdom after they were wrongly framed for the murder of the Great Holy Knight, Zaratars. Now, the Kingdom is about to fall into the hands of the corrupt Holy Knights, and Elizabeth must find the Sins and their leader, Meliodas, to save the Kingdom.
4 Saga of Tanya the Evil
Although this is quite an underrated isekai anime, it is still one of the best reincarnation anime out there. The story revolves around a guy who doesn’t believe in the concept of God and the afterlife at all. There is a mysterious Being X, who calls himself God and plans on punishing this man for his skepticism. It results in his rebirth in the body of a girl, Tanya Degurechaff.
The story continues in a world similar to WWI Europe; Tanya enlists the military service in the Empire’s Mages Division. She becomes fierce, dominates the inferior soldiers, and brutally punishes those who dare to disobey. She gets the nickname “Devil of the Rhine.”
3 That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime
Tensura is an isekai anime where the main character reincarnated as a slime and managed to rise to the epitome of strength. He gained powerful allies and even managed to create a kingdom of monsters. While some people do say that the story is being ruined by political themes now, the truth is the intricacy of the story lies in its politics.
The story follows Satoru Mikami’s journey after he died and reincarnated as a slime in fantasy land. A slime is a creature that reproduces the form and powers of anything that it absorbs or eats.
Satoru starts eating all the magical herbs and crystals in the cave he woke up in and stumbles upon a dragon who had been captured and couldn’t move due to a barrier. Since both had nothing else to do, they befriended each other. The dragon accidentally makes Satoru a named monster, and Satoru promises him he’ll find a way to break the barrier. Hence, an unknown journey begins with this unusual friendship.
2 Oshi No Ko
Oshi No Ko is one of the most popular anime that aired this year, and for good reason, too. The two main characters of the series, Ruby and Aqua, are twins, both of whom had reincarnated as the babies of Hoshino Ai, the most popular idol of all time.
A doctor, Goro, reincarnated as his favorite idol, Ai’s kid. Ai names him Aquamarine and his twin sister, a reincarnation of a patient at the hospital, Ruby. Ai is later killed by a stalker who was also responsible for Goro’s death. As Aquamarine swears revenge on the stalker for his mother’s demise, Ruby follows the same path as her mother to become an idol.
1 Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation
There’s no anime fan who wouldn’t think of Mushoku Tensei when they heard of reincarnation. That is the popularity that Mushoku Tensei has earned itself over the years. Although it is quite pervy, the storyline is excellent, and the animation is top-notch, making it quite likable.

Rudeus is seizing every opportunity to live the life he’s always wanted. Armed with new friends, some freshly acquired magical abilities, and the courage to do the things he’s always dreamed of, he’s embarking on an epic adventure.
