1 Attack on Titan Season 4, Part 2
Isayama’s Attack on Titan has won hearts since its debut in 2013 and continues to do so as the second cour of its final season premiered on the 9th of January.
While it started with the simple premise of survival in a dystopian world plagued with human-eating giants called ‘Titans,’ it flipped and rewrote the script to become a controversial political drama that puts the world at stake.
2 Spy x Family
For all the James Bond and anime-loving fans, this one’s for you! Based on Tatsuya Endo’s manga, it follows the story of an elite spy who has to assemble a pretend family to get close to a high-ranking politician.
While he’s able to adopt a daughter and recruit an unassuming clerk to pose as his wife, he’s completely unaware that they have secrets as well.
Cue the hilarity as the ‘family’ tries to lead an everyday life while keeping their double lives on the down-low.
With WIT Studio and Clover Works taking the reins on its animation, this action-comedy series will be worth the watch when it premieres this April.
3 The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2
A rising star in the Isekai world, the show quickly gained popularity after Season 1 came out in 2019. After the pandemic delayed its renewal last year, it’ll finally be gracing our screens this April.
It follows the journey of Naofumi Iwatani after he’s summoned to an alternate world to protect it against interdimensional monsters that come in periodic ‘Waves.’
But as the story progresses, he’s faced with a brand new set of formidable enemies that are determined to end him and the world he’s defending.
4 Kaguya Sama: Love is War – Ultra Romantic Season 3
One of Japan’s most popular romantic comedies, Kaguya Sama: Love is War, will be back with its third season this April.
Based on Aka Akasaka’s manga of the same name, it revolves around the intense battle of love between Shuchiin Academy’s elite student representatives, Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane.
Despite catching feelings for one another, their pride prevents both of them from making a confession. So, they resort to complicated schemes to force it out of each other.
5 The Devil is a Part-Timer! Season 2
Another famous anime of the comedic genre, The Devil is a Part-Timer!, will be returning for its second season this July.
Even though it’s almost a decade-long gap, fans couldn’t be more thrilled to have their favorite series back in action.
It follows the story of Demon Lord Satan, who is forced to retreat to Earth and adapt to the struggles of everyday human life after his plans of conquest are interrupted by a band of Heroes.
6 Kakegurui Twin
Kakegurui fans are in for a treat, as a spin-off and prequel to the famous gambling series is set to premiere this August.
Taking place one year before the main series, it’ll be featuring the life of Mary Saotome when she first joined Hyakkaou Private Academy and how she spiraled down the path of ludomania.
7 My Hero Academia Season 6
Kickstarting our fall line-up, we’ve got My Hero Academia returning for its sixth season this October.
The new season will be focusing on the “Paranormal Liberation War” arc, wherein Izuku and his classmates will engage in an all-out war against the Paranormal Liberation Front.
And since Kohei Horikoshi’s manga covered the entire arc in a year, there’ll be plenty of material for fans to gorge on.
8 Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War
One of anime’s big leagues is finally making its comeback this October after nearly a decade-long gap.
Ever since Tite Kubo wrapped up the manga in 2016, fans have been adamant that the anime deserves a finale as well. And at long last, the final and much-awaited Thousand Year Blood War arc is finally getting adapted on the screen.
With an immersive plot and massive levels of action to be covered, fans are hyped and hopeful that the anime will keep up with their high expectations.
9 Uzumaki
Horror anime fans rejoice! We’ve got a brand new adaptation that’s set to hit the screen this October.
Based on acclaimed horror mangaka Junji Ito’s masterpiece of the same name, Uzumaki tells the tale of a town called Kurouzu-cho that’s tormented by the omnipresence of spirals.
With Ito’s signature and haunting black and white design, this supernatural and psychological thriller will be worth the watch.
10 Chainsaw Man
Fans of hard-core anime action are in for a treat, as Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw man is set to make its debut this year.
It follows the story of a poverty-stricken Denji, who has taken up Devil hunting to pay off his father’s debt to the Yakuza. But when tragedy strikes, he’s forced to resort to the drastic measure of turning into a Devil hybrid to save his life.
With its animation being handled by MAPPA (Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen), this will be a wild ride you can’t miss.
11 Made in the Abyss Season 2
Ever since its debut in 2017 and the massive success of its three movies, ‘Made in the Abyss’ amassed an enormous fan base that couldn’t be more excited for the return of Season 2 that’s set to premiere this year.
Picking up after the events of Made in Abyss Movie 3: Dawn of the Deep Soul, the latest season will focus on Reg, Riko, and Nanachi’s exploration of the Sixth Layer, The Capital of the Unreturned.
12 Overlord Season 4
The most highly anticipated Isekai series will finally be back in its action-packed glory sometime this year.
Even in an overcrowded genre, Overlord acquired a huge fan-following since its release in 2015. Now with a new season on the horizon, fans are thrilled to finally see the return of Ainz as he continues his brutal conquest of Yggdrasil.
13 Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a spin-off anime series this year! Edgerunners will have a whole new story and a set of characters within the game’s setting.
It’ll focus on a teen’s survival and journey of becoming a cyberpunk in a highly advanced city of the future, where cybernetic body enhancements are the norm.
With Yoshiki Usa and Masahiko Ôtsuka (writers of Star Wars: Visions, Little Witch Academia, and SSSS.Dynazenon) spearheading the series, it’ll be an exciting watch for anime-lovers and gamers.
14 Blue Lock
If you’d like to add some variety to your watch-list, a new sports anime called ‘Blue Lock’ will also be making its debut this year.
Based on Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura’s manga of the same name, it follows the rigorous and intense battle between 300 of the best footballers in Japan, as they compete in the ‘Blue Lock’ training regimen to earn a spot in the national soccer team.
With the title of “Best Shonen Manga” and Studio Eight Bit (“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime”) in charge of its animation, this series is worth keeping an eye on.
15 Spriggan
Spriggan is an exciting new arrival that blends in history, technology, and mystery of an ancient civilization.
Based on Hiroshi Takashige’s manga, it reimagines the penultimate years of the Cold War with ancient artifacts of immense power being the center of attention and conflict between the world’s superpowers.
With the threat of their misuse in the wrong hands, the ARCAM Corporation sends out operatives known as Spriggans or Strikers to protect the artifacts from being weaponized at all costs.
