You just decided you wanted to start a new TV series. So, you went to a streaming platform, but after surfing countless thumbnails, you got confused. After this, you somehow had a lesser clue about what kind of show you wanted to watch.
Well, I’m familiar with this routine of yours. Frankly, it happens way too often with me. But fret not, for I have a solution. I’ve compiled for you a list of shows that are trending right now, each with an entirely different premise and genre. So, without further ado, let’s dive right in and find you a show to watch.
The top 10 TV shows trending right now are:
- Stranger Things
- The Boys
- The Umbrella Academy
- Peaky Blinders
- Better Call Saul
- Only Murders in the Building
- The Terminal List
- The Bear
- Yellowstone
- What We Do in the Shadows
1 Stranger Things
Stranger Things is the talk of the town. As Season 4 released, the internet went into a frenzy and Netflix servers crashed. People are that crazy about this show, and rightly so.
It is one of the best shows Netflix has ever produced, and the Duffer Brothers have given us something quite extraordinary. When Season 1 came out, it was nothing like we had seen before, and that sentiment still holds after four seasons.
Although Season 3 was terrible, the creators came back with a stronger, tighter, and scarier Season 4. The fifth installment will be the last one in the series, and hopefully, all the mysteries of Hawkins will be solved by then.
2 The Boys
Season 3 of The Boys ended last week, and the audience is still not over how good this show is. Lately, the series has been garnering a lot of attention, but I still feel that it is underrated. The show takes a dig at the superhero genre, American politics, the classism in our society, cancel culture, and anything you can think of.
Let me paint you a picture if you haven’t watched the show yet. Imagine if the world is filled with superheroes, but they don’t give two hoots about the common folk. In fact, all the heroes are part of an industry corporatized by one giant company. If this intrigues you, check out the show.

3 The Umbrella Academy
The Umbrella Academy is another show which brings a certain amount of freshness to the superhero genre. Although it isn’t as satirical as The Boys, it is a grim version of what an Avengers or a Justice League would be like.
Season 3 was a blast, but only for people who had closely watched the first two. So whether you’re new to the show or not, catch the first two seasons before going into the third one. Otherwise, it’d become difficult for you to understand the science behind how the world within the show functions.

4 Peaky Blinders
Thomas fookin’ Shelby returned for one last time in this epic show which lasted for six seasons. While the show’s final season received mixed reviews, giving the creator some leeway is important.
After all, one of the series’ major cast members, Helen McRory, passed while filming for the show. So, one can only imagine how difficult it must have been to continue the story in a way that the continuity is not lost and the character gets some form of closure.
But fret not. Although the show has ended, the tale hasn’t. There will be a Peaky Blinders movie where Thomas Shelby will face off against his greatest rivals.

5 Better Call Saul
Better Call Saul has had an epic journey. From being known as the Breaking Bad spinoff, to getting an iconic status of its own, this series has come a long way. This stands as a testament to how good the content was. Sadly, this journey is nearing its end. Season 6 Part 2, airing right now, will be the last part; with that, Saul Goodman’s story will end.

6 Only Murders in the Building
Only Murders in the Building is a light-hearted murder mystery. It’s usually difficult for a creator to entertain the audience with such a genre. But it isn’t impossible, especially when the show has actors like Steve Martin and Martin Short.
The best part about the show is their chemistry with Selena Gomez, the third protagonist of the series. The generation gap and the difference in comedic styles don’t seem to matter. Their performances have so much conviction that you get fully invested in the three of them as a team.
If you’ve been watching something intense for a while, watch this. Think of it as a palate cleanser, and you’ll enjoy it.

7 The Terminal List
The Terminal List has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. This was primarily because of the clichéd plotline and screenplay. However, it is a decent show where one doesn’t have to focus too much on the details.
The series stars Chris Pratt in the leading role of a Navy SEAL out to get the people who betrayed him. The show is similar to Jack Ryan in many ways. It has an army officer trying to find answers, corrupt officials, bureaucrats, and a lot of action.
8 The Bear
If you liked films like Burnt and Chef, you might enjoy this series. Its basic premise surrounds the hardships of running a restaurant, but there’s a whole lot more. It is a character-driven story, and the actors have given incredible performances.
The depiction of running a small business while handling emotional trauma is something we’ve seen before in various films and shows. But despite that, this series is worth a watch.
One of the reasons for this is the way the creators have explored the human mindset and emotions. Another reason is the authenticity of the entire setting. Watch this show over a weekend. It has only one season, so you can finish it quickly.
9 Yellowstone
Yellowstone is an intense series that released back in 2018. The story blends genres such as drama and neo-western and tells a gritty tale. One of the main attractions is the protagonist, played by Kevin Costner.
The series is somewhat lengthy, with four seasons out so far. The fifth season is set to release on November 13, 2022. Each season has a different number of episodes, with a total of 39 so far.
So, if you plan on watching the fifth season, now would be a good time to start the show. This way, you can catch up with the upcoming installment in time.

10 What We Do in the Shadows
What We Do in the Shadows has a tiny fanbase. Nevertheless, it is one of the most interesting and off-beat series that has come out in recent times. Based on the film of the same name, the show follows a mockumentary format, covering the lives of a group of vampires.
Imagine if The Office met Interview with the Vampire. That’s precisely what this show is. It is exceptionally witty and satirical, and made for a niche audience. Watch this if you want to see something other than the usual sitcoms.
But you can and must give it a shot. The show will leave you with a few thoughts that’ll stay long after you’re done watching it.
