Solo Leveling has never once been off the spotlight after the release of its second season earlier this year. The latest episode of the anime featured the Ant King, a true force of nature, who killed S-rank hunters left and right. This was quite shocking for most fans, but it also raises the question: just how powerful do the villains in Solo Leveling get?
Interstingly, the Ant King would rank pretty low on a list of the strongest villains, the Ant King wouldn’t make it to the top, and that’s scary. In this article, we’ll reveal the strongest and most cold-blooded villains in Solo Leveling. Many of these villains are from the Solo Leveling Manhwa, so do be wary of spoilers.
10 The Ant King

The Ant King was a symbol of fear that was instilled into everyone’s mind during the Jeju Island raid arc, and for good reason, too. Solo Leveling had always portrayed S rank hunters to be pretty unstoppable at the beginning of the series, and the advent of the Ant King was what changed that.
In episode 11 of Solo Leveling season 2, The Ant King murdered several S-rank hunters, both from the Japanese and Korean sides, and injured several hunters like Cha Hae-In and even Goto Ryuji. If it hadn’t been for Jinwoo’s timely intervention, every hunter on that island would’ve been annihilated. Interstingly, after the Ant King died, Jinwoo turned him into his shadow solider, who was then referred to as Beru. Beru is also one of Jinwoo’s strongest shadow soldiers, and his strength is greater than the average S-rank hunter.
9 Yogumunt

Yogumunt is the King of Demonic Spectres and the Monarch of Transfiguration. He is a being who saw humans as inferior creatures and even considered Sung Il-Hwan (Jinwoo’s father) to be a weakling. However, he was the only monarch who refused to team up to kill Jinwoo, as he feared Jinwoo would be too strong.
Yogumunt, like any other monarch, was immensely powerful. Later in the manhwa, he sided with Antares to kill Jinwoo. In the battle, he assisted Antares’ by creating gates to transport the demon army. He can also use other skills like Levitation and Spiritual Body Manifestation. Like every other monarch who opposed Jinwooo, Yogumunt also met a sorry end in the manhwa.
8 Querehsha

Querehsha is the Queen of Insects and the Monarch of Plagues. She was introduced in the manhwa when the Monarch of Frost, Sillad planned to kill Jinwoo. However, Jinwoo wasn’t the only hunter they planned to kill; this combo also killed the national-level hunter, Christopher Reed, which is enough reason for the two to be hated.
Querehsha is a really bloodthirsty woman who enjoys killing humans and playing around with them. However, she is surprisingly kind to her minions. She possesses many skills like necromancy, mana manipulation, regeneration, venom inducement, and spiritual body manifestation. Regardless, she was the first to die in the battle against Jinwoo.
7 Sillad

The Monarch of Frost, also known as Sillad, was also introduced along with Queresha. When Sillad realized that Jinwoo was Ashborn’s human vessel, he, along with Queresha and Rakan, tried to ambush him.
Sillad and Rakan’s fight against Jinwoo may have been one of the best fights in the series, and for once, we got to see Jinwoo gravely injured. We won’t go into many details about the fight, but the fight ended after Rakan fled the place, and the arrogant Sillad’s vessel was effortlessly destroyed by Jinwoo with a little help from his father.
6 Baran

Baran is the King of Demons and the Monarch of White Flames. He was depicted as a really fierce and cruel fighter, who never backed down from a fight, even those in which he didn’t have an edge.
Eons ago, Antares had ordered Rakan and Baran to kill Ashborn. The two failed miserably in the task, and Rakan fled the battle just like how he had escaped from Jinwoo. Baran, who was Ashborn’s ally was mercilessly killed in that battle and absorbed. In the solo leveling anime, we got to see an inferior version of Baran, and although he didn’t have a shred of his former glory, he was still a handful for Jinwoo.
5 Rakan

Rakan is the King of Beasts and the Monarch of Fangs. He is probably one of the strongest monarchs who managed to effortlessly defeat the national-level hunter, Thomas Andre. Despite being really prideful and arrogant, he’s almost always seen to flee battles when they get too tedious.
Interestingly, Rakan was one of the very few monarchs who actually managed to injure Jinwoo in battle. When Sillad and Rakan ambushed Jinwoo, Rakan managed to stab Jinwoo through the chest with his claws. This happened only because Jinwoo was too occupied with Sillad, but it was still quite the feat. Later, right when the battle got a bit too hard for Sillad, he got abandoned by Rakan.
4 The Architect

The architect was one of the very first characters to be introduced in the series, and out of all the characters that were introduced, it was likely the most eerie. Not many have forgotten the God Statue’s smile right before it slaughtered many of Jinwoo’s allies.
The Architect created the system to help the Shadow Monarch find a suitable vessel so he could gain immortality. For this, Jinwoo was chosen, and he proved to be really potent as a vessel, too. Unfortunately for him, his plan backfired as Jinwoo was too strong to offer his body to Ashborn.
3 Antares

Antares is the King of Dragons and the Monarch of Destruction. He happens to be both the strongest and the oldest of the nine Monarchs and one of Jinwoo’s final adversaries in the series. It could be said that Antares is one of the most well-behaved monarchs. This is because he didn’t clearly show his arrogance or his disgust for humans. He was also quite respectful of powerful people and even promised Jinwoo that he wouldn’t attack humans if he agreed to fight with him.
Jinwoo could not hurt Antares at all during their fight, and this was quite shocking as Jinwoo didn’t have much trouble fighting other monarchs until then. However, he took help from the Rulers, and with the help of their ambush, he managed to Antares.
2 The Rulers

The Rulers are an ancient race of angelic warriors created by the Absolute Being, and since they always walk around as a pack, they are normally treated as a single entity. Although most people may find it weird to call them “villains”, the truth is that neither the Monarchs nor the Rulers can truly be called villains, as they were all merely the Absolute Being’s toys.
The Rulers have been battling the Monarchs for eons, but when they asked the Absolute Being for the power to defeat the Monarchs, he simply refused. Ashborn was the only Ruler who stayed loyal to the Absolute Being throughout the series, and he even let his allies kill him. For this reason, Ashborn doesn’t make it into this list despite being one of the strongest beings in the world. At the end of the series, it was the Rulers who lent Jinwoo a hand to kill Andres.
1 The Absolute Being

The Absolute Being is a god, and is the creator of the Rulers and Monarchs. He split the light to create rulers and the darkness to create monarchs. The Absolute Being is actually a really cruel and self-centered being, and he created the Rulers and Monarchs only for his own entertainment. This was why he refused to end the war between the Rulers and Monarchs by granting the rulers power.
The Absolute Being is undoubtedly the strongest creature that was introduced in Solo Leveling and could even create life out of nothingness. However, for an unexplained reason, The Absolute Being cannot use his powers in battle, and he ended up getting speared to death by all the rulers.
