Because of my love for the series and its powerful characters, I am ranking the top 10 strongest in Claymore.
The Claymore series is jam-packed with iron-willed fighting beauties that outclassed DC Comics’ Wonder Woman and many of her Amazonian fighters.
Upon watching the first episode, I was bewildered with the show’s premise and OST! Then, I decided to jump to the manga after finishing the anime. The show has an anime-only ending, but I just had to know what other events happened in the manga.
Since the anime didn’t get a 2nd Season, I thought I should start reading the manga from Volume 1. And upon reading the Claymore manga, I felt as if I traveled through medieval Europe!
Disclaimer: I will be ranking this list according to the manga series as the anime only adapted up to Volume 11. Spoilers will be discussed below.
10Alicia and Beth
While Alicia readies herself for battle by becoming the Awakened Being, Beth holds and controls Alicia’s sense of self. In this way, Alicia can revert to human form because Beth keeps Alicia’s humanity intact.
Having said that, Alicia’s strength is equivalent to that of an Abyssal One as long as Beth is able to contain the swelling rage.
9Roxanne
She keeps “friends” but turns against them once she imitated their techniques. Roxanne is the ultimate copycat because she kills her comrades right after stealing their sword techniques and abilities.
“Roxanne of Love and Hate” becomes twisted and hateful of the Claymore warriors despite successfully stealing their techniques. In the end, she ensures her “friends” acquire a “peaceful but gratifying death”.
With her ability to hide her tremendous Yoki (demon energy), her comrades tremble in fear as “Evil-Blade Roxanne” in her Abyssal state begins to hunt un-awakened Claymores one by one!
8Luciela
Her anti-social skills benefit her because it’s easier for her to take advantage of weaklings.
Because her Awakened Being form dilutes her sensibilities and mind, she was able to manipulate Rafaela during a pivotal point in their battles with Clare.
7Cassandra
During the peak of their battles, Cassandra used the “Dust Eater” technique and moved her head in a Pendulum motion.
Roxanne is caught off guard because Cassandra’s monstrous face also smiles evilly from the ground as if eating dust while fighting her.
Using the technique, Cassandra immobilized and mutilated Roxanne’s body parts. At the end of the battle, she told Roxanne that it’s her hesitation and lack of resolve that caused her to be beaten.
Many of Cassandra’s comrades feared the Dust-Eater technique, which causes Cassandra (one of the Eight Most Powerful Creature-Warriors) to become aloof.
6Isley
Isley was ranked as a Former #1 Male Claymore. But with unique shape-shifting form, his arm can transform into bow and arrows, claws, axes, and other various weapons.
Isley also battled Priscilla when they transformed into their respective Awakened Beings. However, Isley lost when Priscilla destroyed one half of her opponent’s torso.
No sooner, a a rumour was spread that it was the other way around, and that she was his lover. This is done so the people would fear Isley, not Priscilla.
Using Priscilla as insurance and the incredible speed of his Awakened Being, Isley overtook Luciela’s rulership of the southern district. Now, he’s known throughout the lands as “Isley — King of the North and South”.
5The Destroyer
The Destroyer is powerful because it combines the opposing nature of a hateful Luciela and a Former No. 5 Claymore warrior, Rafaela.
When they fused, Parasitic Rods shoot out from The Destroyer (short-lived reproductive feline-like Yomas).
True to its name, The Destroyer only seeks to consume, absorb, and eradicate the life of whatever it touches! It is a frightening creature that exceeds even the powers of the Abyssal Ones!
4Riful-Like Being
Riful-Like Being is also an amalgamation of Riful and Dauf. An invulnerable and S-tier Awakened Being, Dauf’s Yoki strength is unmatched when he tortures Claymores into their limit so they can be Awakened. He follows Riful’s orders because he loves her.
The pre-teen Riful (known as “Riful of the West”) uses Dauf, her lover, in every way possible to extort Claymore to their Awakened modes.
Dauf may be a crybaby, but his abominable strength and durability is what made him hang around Riful for a long time.
With the combined base strengths of Dauf and pre-teen Riful, it’s no wonder that the Riful-Like Awakened Being rose from being “the youngest leader ruling the western hemisphere” to being the “Youngest Creature of The Abyss” terrorizing the lands.
Not only does this Riful-Like Being live up to Riful’s “Youngest #1” title. But it also engrained to the audience’s mind how dedicated the Riful-Like Awakened Being plans to build an army of “Awakened Claymores” using whatever means she finds.
3Clare
At the beginning of the series, Clare’s ranking is No. 47 which is the lowest rank among all Claymores. But over time, she became powerful and even became the vessel for Teresa’s Angel Form to take shape.
As the carrier of the Yoki of Former #1 (Teresa), The Organization used her as the primary subject of their experiments. They injected Teresa’s flesh and blood within her to transform Clare into a quarter Claymore.
Her strongest point is when she was awakened as Teresa. At that time, Teresa and Clare took form as Twin Goddesses to finish off Priscilla’s Awakened Being.
Her power is also attributed to Ilena’s decapitated right arm attached on her body. The right arm alone can utilize the Quick Sword technique if Clare solely focuses her Yoki power to its awakening.
She’s also known as “Wind Cutter Clare” after mastering the lighting-flash / slashing attack technique from Former No. 8 Flora.
Her extraordinary senses also allowed her to read and manipulate Yoki energy, making the scales tip favourably to her side during battles.
When she absorbed Rafaela’s memories and experiences, Clare can form a weak Yoki barrier around her body that serves as a shield.
2Priscilla
With a bottomless hate towards Yomas, Priscilla’s limitless Yoki manifested as a child. She can even fight just by using under 30% of her Yoki.
Her Yoki suppression made her stronger than all the Abyssal Ones of the land. The tragic backstory that she carries also fueled the rage she feels towards Yomas.
Her devourment of her Yoma-transformed father also gave her a powerful Yoki even before being employed by The Organization.
Despite reaching enhanced Yoki levels, Priscilla involuntarily reverted to her child-like human form.
She’s unable to contain the massive Yoki energy, hence, the reversion. Her powers are unstable: she loses a series of memories from her childhood up to her pre-teen years.
But as the strongest Awakened Being in existence, Priscilla can extend the body parts of her Awakened Being, including her horn (giving her the “One-Horned Monster” nickname).
Her Awakened Being form can regenerate infinitely. She can conjure mass of flesh from nothing so her monstrous form can be complete. She can also shapeshift and create clones generated from bits and pieces of her flesh. 🤢

1Teresa
Teresa is the strongest Claymore in the series because of her:
- Yoki suppression ability (using just under 10% of her Yoki);
- Proficient and superb skills to sense Yoki energy; and
- Possessing an unusual angelic Awakened Being form
Her awakened state is angelic and, possibly, the result of young Clare’s good nature infused in Teresa’s blood and flesh. ‘Teresa is a fan favorite’ because of her elegance, beauty, fighting style, and prominence in the manga series.
She is Clare’s true friend and adoptive mother or older sister. Her nickname is “Teresa of the Faint Smile” because of the smile that dawns on her face while murdering her enemies.
According to Ilena, she is the only Claymore who was given the “Faint Smile” title even though many Claymores do the same thing as her: smile wickedly and evilly while slaughtering their enemies.
The Organization dubbed Teresa as their most powerful warrior that they created. And as a Former No. 1 Female Claymore warrior, she also holds a seat as one of the “Eight Most Powerful Creature-Warriors”.
With her unrivaled Yoki power, she posses the speed, versatility, and durability to sustain herself for a long time in an Awakened Being hunt.

Clare is a young member of the Claymores, a class of creature who is half-human and half-demon.
Her quest in life is to fight against the full-breed Yomas — hideous fiends who disguise as humans and feed ruthlessly on human innards and guts.
Throughout the series, Clare resolves to track one of these beings to avenge a dear friend.
