Baki has become a sensation, and fans all over the world can’t get enough of the mind-blowing martial arts action. The fandom is so dedicated that we’ve been having heated debates about who reigns supreme in the Baki universe for years.
Baki has a mind-blowing lineup of superhuman characters who can effortlessly break bones with their bare hands. So, I’m here to list down the top ten iconic characters in Baki who have earned the title of the strongest.
These guys are hailed as legends, and they deserve every bit of it. So, whether you’re a die-hard fan or new to the Baki series, these characters will blow your mind with their insane abilities and unyielding determination.
10 Hanayama Kaoru
Hanayama is the badass leader of the Yakuza in Baki. He doesn’t waste words and only speaks when necessary, especially in the heat of combat. He lets his fists do the talking, and they’ve got quite a story to tell.
Kaoru Hanayama’s strength goes way back to his childhood. Even as a kid, he could break bottles, tear thick magazines, and change the shape of doorknobs. If he grabs someone’s arm, he can make it explode by cutting off the blood flow.
And let’s not forget the time he went head-to-head with a Great White Shark underwater and killed the beast by crushing its brain.
9 Retsu Kaiou
Retsu is a Chinese Kenpo master. He thought his martial art style was the strongest thing ever until he realized there’s more to the world of fighting than just one style.
Retsu’s strength is so ridiculous that he once pounded a boulder into a perfect sphere! He’s mentally sharp and can see right through his opponent’s moves and spot their weaknesses.
Retsu is not afraid to fight dirty. He’ll use his hair to blind his opponents, set them on fire with alcohol, or even fling dirt at them using his shirt. He can take down opponents like Mount Toba and Katsumi Orochi in the blink of an eye.
8 Nomi no Sukune II
Sukune is a humble sumo master. He has a simplistic mindset, always keeping calm and collected, even during fights.
Sukune’s grip strength is off the charts. He can crush coal into diamonds with his bare hands! Using only his grip strength, Nomi grabbed Oliva’s ribs and broke every single one of them.
Once, he casually scaled a massive climbing wall in just three steps with no safety harness needed. And then he just hopped right back down without breaking a sweat. Even Baki was left speechless.
7 Biscuit Olivia
He’s the strongest man in all of America and the only one in the Arizona State Prison who has the run of the place because he’s considered prison staff.
Biscuit Olivia’s muscles are so dense that they can repel shotgun blasts and even withstand katana thrusts without flinching. His typical training session involves casually pulling a helicopter down to the ground with his hands.
He effortlessly overpowered a group of Olympic-level judokas. And in his showdown with Baki, he charged through four prison rooms and punched him right through a steel door.
6 Jack Hanma
Jack’s mother was a victim of his father’s horrible actions, and he wants to make his dad pay for what he did. All he cares about is getting stronger so he can unleash his vengeance.
Jack’s biting force is said to be equal to that of a crocodile. He managed to damage Izou Motobe even when the guy was wearing chain mail made for planes and tires.
He pushes himself to the brink of self-destruction with his insane training regimen. Even after having half his face bitten off by Pickle and ending up in the hospital twice, once in a coma, he still gets up and goes right back to training.
5 Kaku Kaiou
This dude takes sociopathic ruthlessness to a whole new level. In the name of China and its martial arts, Kaku has no problem dismissing two Kaious and replacing them with his son and best friend just to secure a win in the Raitai tournament.
Kaku has been training in Chinese martial arts for over a century; he can take down a Muay Thai using Kaioh, who’s a fifth of his age, in less than ten seconds without straining himself.
In his battle with Yuujirou, he temporarily stopped his own heart to fake his death and avoid getting finished off. Crafty move, I must say. Even Yuujirou found it funny and couldn’t help but appreciate the cleverness behind it.
4 Pickle
He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to intelligence, but boy, does he have his own set of quirks. Even though Pickle may not be a wordsmith, he’s got a sense of honor.
He’s got this weird rule where he only wants to eat creatures that fight him. After tearing off Katsumi Orochi’s arm, he gave it back to him and said a little prayer.
In his prehistoric life, Pickle killed and chowed down on T-Rexes without needing any fancy weapons. He can endure blows without even flinching or trying to protect himself.
He’s not scared of any beast out there except for one tiny creature – a wasp. This hulking dude turns into a complete scaredy-cat when faced with fights that remind him of wasps.
3 Baki Hanma
He’s got one big goal in mind: to defeat his father, Yuujirou Hanma. He wants to prove himself and avenge his mom, Emi Akezawa, who got murdered by his dad.
You’ll often find him in fights with all sorts of people, either by choice or by some crazy twist of fate (usually the latter).
Baki constantly pushes himself day and night, trying to level up his skills as quickly as possible. When he was just 17, he was already the champ of the Tokyo Underground Dome, and his strength kept growing throughout the series.
Baki realized that his approach to fighting was quite different from his dad’s. He believes in building relationships with strong opponents, which gives him insane strength. But his kindness towards opponents always manages to tick Yuujirou off.
2 Musashi Miyamoto
Musashi is like a fame-hungry martial artist looking for the spotlight he once had. He’s totally detached from the rest of the world, even more so than Pickle.
He doesn’t have much sympathy for others and only spares those he pities. Everyone else is fair game for him, and he hardly cares who he injures or maims.
Musashi has legendary swordsmanship skills; he’s the brains behind Niten Ichi-ryuu, the school that combines all his skills and philosophies. He can outrun vehicles, disappear and reappear like he’s teleporting, and cut bullets in mid-air.
Even at the age of 17, he was winning battles left and right, barely breaking a sweat. He can crush bamboo, effortlessly lift heavyweight dudes like Baki and Retsu Kaiou with one hand, and even hoist up Yuujirou Hanma with both hands!
1 Yuujirou Hanma
Yuujirou Hanma is the strongest character in the Baki universe. He’s mastered all forms of unarmed combat, from karate and boxing to taekwondo and street fighting. He can cut glass with his fingers and crush coal to dust.
The middle Hanma is fierce and arrogant and sees showing mercy as a weak trait. He’s a master of emotional manipulation and likes playing mind games with his sons.
His whole life revolves around fighting and causing destruction. He’s like a wrecking ball on a mission to take down anything and everything in his path.
At just 16 years old, he took on the American military forces all by himself during the Vietnam War. He’s pushed back 100 riot police, punched the ground to stop an earthquake, and even knocked out an elephant that not even tanks could damage.
