There are many anime with admirable and lovable characters. On the other hand, fans and viewers continue to hate many characters with passion, even long after the anime has rolled the end credits.
Look at the Top 10 most hated anime characters across all genres and multiple decades. These are the faces that might look amiable and approachable, but they are anything but lovable.
10Akira Takaoka
Takaoka from Assassination Classroom was a hateful character. He didn’t try to teach the kids anything; moreover, he tried to kill them.
Unable to deal with the humiliation of losing to a kid, he embezzled the office funds and hired professional assassins to poison the students of class 3-E and later poisoned half of the class using a lethal self-engineered virus.
9Sakura Haruno
Sakura is cute and lovable- to an extent. As we see Naruto’s end and Shippuden’s beginning, Sakura becomes increasingly irritating. She is useless in almost all of the fights and needs Sasuke or Naruto to help her in many situations.
Although she is said to match the duo in terms of power, there is no indication that she is strong, even after being trained by Tsunade herself. Her attitude towards Naruto doesn’t help her case.
8Gabi Braun
Attack on Titan is a favorite of many, but when it comes ot Gabi Braun, she is probably the most hated character in the show. Gabi ended up killing Sasha. This was a breaking point for many as they ended up hating her, rightfully so.
Though there was a redemption arc, it was not nearly enough for her to be forgiven.
7Makoto Ito
What can be more memorable and nostalgic than good ol’ School Days? But when it comes to the anime, it can be called one of the most hated anime out there.
What starts as a cute romance story turns into a story of Makoto cheating on his girlfriend multiple times. The way he handles the fragile heart of Saionji is what makes Makoto so hateable.
6Rachel
For a girl who just wants to see the stars, Rachel is one hell of a crazy girl. She betrays Bam and tries to kill him, later manipulates his friends, frames him, and has zero redeeming qualities to speak of. Rachel is the opposite of everything Bam is, which makes her hateworthy.
5Yakumo Oomori
Tokyo Ghoul is filled with gore, and many are used to it. But when it comes to truly horrible things, there is no way to forgive them. Yakumo Oomori is everything an antagonist can be, and add to that disgusting, arrogant, and a cannibal.
He is responsible for countless deaths and kills and eats many people with zero regret.
4Nobuyuki Sugo
Sword Art Online is a spectacular anime with many great scenes and characters. The worst of whom is Nobuyuki Sugo, an unassuming and trustworthy man (apparently) who sexually abuses women and little girls. The most enraging part is when he tries to assault Asuna when she gets stuck in the virtual world.
3Danzo Shimura
Danzo Shimura is the man behind the curtain. He is singlehandedly responsible for almost all Naruto and the Hidden Leaf Village tragedies. He acts and plots to exterminate the Uchiha for his greed and steals their Sharingan to implant into his body.
2Malty Melromarc
What happens when a beauty supposed to be a hero shows her dark side? Malty from The Rising of the Shield Hero frames the protagonist for sexual assault and practically ruins his life. She is arrogant, self-centered, and manipulative, which is why she is one of the most hated characters in anime.
1Shou Tucker
Among all the characters you can think of, a rare few can come close to the true evil that Shou Tucker from Full Metal Alchemist is.
Shou Tucker seems like an approachable man and seems to help restore our protagonists to their old forms. But it turns out that for his greed, he has turned his infantile daughter and dog and fused them into a Chimera. The worst part is, that the daughter still has some conscience in that form. There is no character more hateable.
