10. Turn A Gundam

Loran Cehack of the Moonrace, along with some of his friends are selected on a mission to Earth to see whether it is habitable. He spends a year there as a chauffeur to the Heim family and becomes close with its members. Following his mission, he sends news to his superiors that Earth is habitable and springing with life.  

But the Moonrace invades Earth with an offensive strike with the help of its advanced technology and mobile suits. In a rush to save the people of the Heim family and the other earthlings, Loran stumbles across a mobile suit hidden inside a white doll. He begins his retaliation with it, and soon, other mobile suits are found along the way to join the war. 

The series manages to integrate the lessons of the needlessness of war and a strive for a mutual understanding with each other. The music and the animation further add to this mysticism. 

9. Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket

Made as a side story to the main Gundam franchise set in the Universal century 0079, this story follows the life of three friends, Al, Bernie, and Chris. Bernie was the sole survivor of an attack by a Gundam that he was on a mission to exterminate. He befriends Al and Chris who is secretly the Gundam test pilot. 

The federation threatens to destroy Side 6 with nuclear weapons unless the Gundam is found and dealt with. Realizing that this puts his friends in danger, he strives to fight the Gundam. This anime strives to show how crooked and hellish an actual war can be, away from the notions surrounding it. 

8. Mobile Fighter G Gundam

This anime sets off in an alternate universe much into the future where the Earth has been brought to ruins, and the humans now live in colonies outside its atmosphere. A Gundam fight is held every four years, and each country participates in it. The one last standing can rule the space for the next four years till the next fight.  

This anime narrates the journey of Domon, who travels across countries fighting the Gundams in a quest to capture his fugitive older brother, who ran off with his father’s invention, the ultimate devil Gundam. This led to his father being arrested and being put in Cryosleep. 

7. Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta

This series is set in the Universal century 0087. Titans, an elite force, was created to hunt and destroy what remains of Zeon. But they soon turn into a force that ruthlessly kills those who show the courage to ask for equal rights for the space people. The Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG), a rebel group, tried to defeat the Titans and regain their peace. 

Kamille Bidan, a teenager and an amateur mobile suit pilot, travels to meet his parents. But on the way, he strikes a fight with a titan officer named Jerid Messa. The AEUG soon attacks them, and Kamille takes Jerid’s Gundam in the confusion. He retaliates against them and goes with them to their mothership. This follows him joining the AUEG for revenge. 

This series is a refinement of the original series and is oddly more grounded in the brutal themes. The suits, the villains, the return of Amuro and Char, and Kamille’s development add to the mesmerizing tinge of the series. 

6. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

In the year After Colony 195, this series follows the life of five young boys sent to Earth in advanced mobile suits called Gundam. Five rogue scientists made them as part of Mission Meteor to destroy the tyrannical OZ military organization that has been repressing the space colonies. 

The five boys, Heero, Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Chang, are assigned their own Gundam but initially view each other as enemies. Slowly, they realize that they have a common objective of destroying OZ, so they team up together unfolding the adventures. 

5. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

This is set in a universe where the Earth Alliance is at war with ZAFT. The protagonist, Kira Yamato, is stuck in the war as his home place becomes a battlefield. 

Kira fights to protect his loved ones from the atrocities of the war. The story portrays Kira’s identity struggles and the choices he has to make. The plot is complex and emotionally deep, engaging the audience in an amazing journey.

Iron-Blooded Orphans revolves around the CGS as it accepts to escort Kudelia Aina Bernstein, who wants to liberate Chryse from one of Earth’s major powers. The story happens in the Post-Disaster era. 

This triggers the entire events and rebellions. Mikazuki Augus, one of the members of CGS, brings Gundam Barbatos, a mobile suit used in the Calamity War era, to the battle, hence facing the following struggles. 

Iron-Blooded Orphans is popular for its story and the vivid depiction of problems in a corrupted government. It doesn’t hesitate to portray problems like poverty and the consequences of war. The plot is emotional and delves deep into the bonds of the characters.

Set in the future, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 focuses on a futuristic earth where humanity searches for a new power source. After the depletion of fossil fuels, there is an unbalanced distribution of energy, leading to nations fighting one another. 

The three power blocs on the planet dominate the solar power energy, which ignites a global war among the nations. This never-ending war among the nations gives rise to the formation of the Celestial Being. 

Even though Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is criticized for its slow pace in the beginning, it gets better along the way. This is famous for its top-notch battle scenes and amazing characters. The animation is also not far behind compared to other Gundam anime.
