The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is set to be the ultimate MCU showdown, packed with legendary team-ups and intense rivalries.
With 27 confirmed characters and even more surprises in store, fans can expect epic battles, unexpected alliances, and long-awaited reunions.
Here’s a look at the biggest clashes and partnerships in the film!
10 Winter Soldier & Captain America
Few duos in the MCU have a history as complex as Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson. Ever since they fought side by side in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, fans have been eager to see them reunite.

The live-stream announcement of Avengers: Doomsday confirmed that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will return, hinting at a renewed partnership.
With Steve Rogers gone, Sam has fully embraced the mantle of Captain America, but will Bucky still see him as a worthy successor? Their brotherly dynamic – filled with banter, loyalty, and the occasional disagreement – will be a major highlight of the film.
9 Thor & Loki
Thor and Loki’s relationship has always been a rollercoaster of betrayal, heartbreak, and redemption. After Loki’s tragic death in Infinity War, fans thought their story was over – until the TVA introduced a variant of the Trickster God.

Now, with Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth both confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, the question remains: will this new Loki acknowledge the bond he once shared with Thor?

Could this be the moment where the Asgardian brothers finally fight side by side without betrayal looming over them? Marvel has a golden opportunity to pay off Loki’s last words to Thor: “The sun will shine on us again.”
8 Nightcrawler & Mystique
Despite being mother and son in the comics, the Fox X-Men movies barely explored the connection between Mystique and Nightcrawler. That might change in Avengers: Doomsday, with Rebecca Romijn and Alan Cumming reprising their roles.

Will this be the film where Nightcrawler finally learns the truth about his lineage? And if so, will Mystique embrace him, or will she continue her pattern of cold detachment?

A face-off between them could add an emotional layer to the already high-stakes multiversal battle.
7 Professor X & Magneto
Few rivalries in comic book history are as compelling as Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr. While they share the dream of mutant survival, their methods have always been at odds.

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen’s return means we’ll likely see these two legends share the screen once more.

With the multiverse at stake, will Magneto finally accept Xavier’s vision of peaceful coexistence? Or will Avengers: Doomsday reignite their ideological war, forcing them to clash one final time?
6 Namor & Sue Storm
With Fantastic Four set to debut in 2025, Avengers: Doomsday will be the first major crossover featuring Marvel’s First Family. However, one classic comic book subplot might spell trouble for Reed Richards.

In the comics, Namor has long been infatuated with Sue Storm, often trying to lure her away from Mr. Fantastic.

Given Tenoch Huerta’s confirmed return as Namor and Vanessa Kirby’s role as Sue, will the MCU dive into this rivalry? If so, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards might need to keep a very close eye on his wife.
5 The Thunderbolts
Marvel shocked fans by including almost the entire Thunderbolts cast in Avengers: Doomsday, including Lewis Pullman’s Sentry.

In the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, Sentry is expected to be the team’s biggest threat, corrupted by The Void. But will Avengers: Doomsday feature a Sentry fully in control, or will he still be a wildcard?
With the fate of the Thunderbolts movie uncertain, this casting decision could be a strategic misdirection – Marvel might be hiding which characters survive.
4 Cyclops & Captain America
James Marsden’s Cyclops returning to the MCU is huge, especially since the X-Men will finally step onto Marvel’s main stage. Cyclops has always been a natural leader, making his dynamic with Sam Wilson’s Captain America an exciting one to watch.

Will they see eye to eye, or will their differing leadership styles lead to tension? With Doctor Doom emerging as the central villain, these two might have to put aside any differences and strategize together to save the multiverse.
3 Nightcrawler & Gambit
Fans of X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men (1997) know that Nightcrawler and Gambit share a unique friendship – one filled with mutual respect, humor, and a flair for the dramatic.

Alan Cumming and Channing Tatum’s casting in Avengers: Doomsday hints at this bromance finally coming to life in live-action.
Expect a mix of smooth-talking card tricks and teleportation as they take on whatever adventure (or misadventure, more often than not) that the producers think fit for their character!
2 Doctor Doom vs Fantastic Four
Doctor Doom’s long-awaited MCU debut is finally happening, and who better to play him than Robert Downey Jr.? That’s right – Marvel’s former Iron Man is stepping into the role of Victor Von Doom, setting up the ultimate showdown with the Fantastic Four.

Doom has always been Reed Richards’ greatest rival, and Avengers: Doomsday will likely cement this enmity. The question is: will this be Doom’s grand entrance, or is Marvel setting him up as the next big bad beyond the Multiverse Saga?
1 Avengers vs. X-Men
The inclusion of so many X-Men characters hints at a possible adaptation of Avengers vs. X-Men, one of Marvel’s most famous comic crossovers. With mutantkind now entering the MCU, ideological clashes between the Avengers and the X-Men could be inevitable.

Will the film set the stage for a massive showdown between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Marvel’s most powerful mutants? If so, expect some serious power struggles and unforgettable battles.
Final Thoughts: What’s After Doomsday?
The MCU is heading toward its most ambitious crossover yet, blending characters from across different universes into one epic film.
Whether it’s long-awaited reunions, shocking betrayals, or the setup for even bigger conflicts, Avengers: Doomsday has the potential to redefine the franchise.
With multiversal chaos at its peak, one thing is certain – Marvel fans are in for a wild ride.
