The second episode of Tomo-chan is a Girl! brought an interesting twist to the story; Misuzu and Jun used to date, a fact unknown to Tomo. It’s a mystery why they kept it a secret from her.

Episode 2 ended with Jun’s revelation of his dating history with Misuzu. Since they dated in middle school and didn’t tell Tomo about it, Tomo might likely get upset and confront the both of them in the next episode. We may also learn more about their relationship and why it ended.

Episode 2 Recap
After an elderly passenger grabs Tomo on the bus, Jun restrains the man and advises that she wear pants rather than a skirt. Tomo is upset when Jun suggests that she dress more like a boy, but Misuzu later explains that he was only attempting to shield her from other gropers.
Misuzu advises Tomo to wear a skirt without shorts to appear more feminine. She also offers to remove Tomo’s shorts at the end of the school day when Jun and Tomo walk home together. While Tomo is shy, Jun avoids looking and walking with her. He accidentally sees her underwear and is flustered, a reaction that Tomo finds interesting.
The next day, Misuzu deduces from Tomo’s response that Jun has a different perspective on her. Carol Olston, a classmate who is half English, is popular amongst the boys at school. Carol starts picking on Tomo and sees her as an enemy after Tomo runs into Carol and Misaki in the corridor.
Misuzu offers Tomo the incentive to pursue Jun by sending Carol to him. Jun, in the meantime, tries to assist Carol with some fundamental physical training but only knows that she wants to prepare for an unknown enemy. After learning the significance of Misuzu’s comments, Tomo finally confronts Jun, and Carol leaves after realizing Tomo’s feelings for Jun.
Carol takes Misuzu out for cake after school, and Misuzu persuades Carol to become friends with Tomo. The following day at school, Carol is taken aback when Tomo accepts happily and sees her as an angel. When Tomo learns later that Jun dated Misuzu in middle school, she is shocked.

Tomo-chan Is a Girl! is a four-panel manga by Fumita Yanagida. It was published from April 2015 to July 2019. The manga will also receive an anime adaptation in 2023.
The plot revolves around a tomboy girl, Tomo Aizawa. She has a crush on her childhood friend, Jun, but he only ever thinks of her as a guy. She tries to show her love but it ends up in Jun completely misinterpreting her hints.
The hilarious series shows how Tomo tries to capture Jun’s attention while also dealing with her friends, Misuzu and Carol.
