Developers and publishers Aspyr have showcased the improvements coming to the Tomb Raider 1-2-3 Remastered that was announced in September at the Nintendo Direct event. The developers mentioned that the main improvements would be in the gameplay and art front with classic and modern controls, real-time lighting effects, and new models.
The developers mentioned that several changes were being made on the gameplay front. However, they were mindful of respecting the OG gamers and included modern and classic controls. There will be revamped boss health bars and 3D item sprite replacements.
Keeping up with the newer trends, there will be over 200 trophies/achievements for the players to grind for and a recent photo mode. Not unveiling everything, the developers mentioned that they will also include a “few more surprises” to treat the players.
Coming to the art front, developers at Aspyr have reworked the lighting from the ground up, and the 3 Tomb Raider Remastered titles will have real-time lighting effects and new character and environment models.
Again, the developers are mindful of the players’ nostalgic sentiments and have given the players an option to toggle between the modern and the classic representation. The modern-day Tomb Raider title developer – Crystal Dynamics- handles the revamped art front.
The main aim for Aspyr is to maintain the games’ original look and feel while “tastefully updating them” to satisfy today’s gamers. They have ensured that Lara Croft’s original iconic design will be retained.
Aspyr has touched all bases and has ensured that fans have nothing to complain about. They have also kept their doors open for feedback and input on what the players might want to see in the upcoming Tomb Raider 1-2-3 Remastered, releasing on February 14th, 2024.
