Tokyo Ghoul’s mangaka Sui Ishida posted an illustration of Tokyo Revengers’ Ken Ryuguji, better known as Draken, on his official Twitter handle.

As one of Tokyo Revengers’ central characters, Draken is the vice president and co-founder of the Tokyo Manji Gang. He is represented in Tokyo Ghoul’s creator, Sui Ishida’s trademark dream-like style.

In the portrait, Draken perfectly encompasses his “bad boy with a heart of gold” personality. He has wounds on his neck and jaw yet still has an unfazed swagger in his cold eyes.

Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers is one of the breakout series of 2021, with sales even surpassing Demon slayer. The story follows Takemichi as he travels back in time to save his teenage sweetheart, Hinata Tachibana, from an accident caused by Tokyo Manji Gang. It’s funny to see such a reputed mangaka Sui Ishida fanboying over a series that doesn’t share anything with his famous work except the word “Tokyo” in the title.

The latest episode of Tokyo Revengers has even more gangster intrigue with various gangs such as Valhalla and Toman still stuck on loggerheads against each other.

Moreover, this is not even the first time that Mr. Ishida posted an illustration of the Revengers series. Previously, he shared an illustration of Manjiro Sano, better known as Mikey, one of the central characters the story focuses on.

Once again, Mr. Ishidas’ talent shines through with a realistic yet painted art style that blurs the line between reality and dream. In addition to such creative work on the side, he is also working on his latest manga series titled “Choujin X” on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump.

Mangaka Sui Ishida is known for posting other popular fan arts. He has posted illustrations depicting Goku from Dragon Ball, One-Punch Man, and Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion

These fun illustrations show us that the people creating these fantastic series are weebs themselves and blur the line between the fan and the creator.

If you like the illustrations and are curious about any of the mentioned series, be sure to catch up to Tokyo Revengers or Tokyo Ghoul.

About Tokyo Revengers

Tokyo Revengers is a manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on March 1, 2017, and ended its run in November 2022. It is compiled into 31 tankobon volumes.

The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.

Landing on the tracks, he closed his eyes, accepting his death, but when he opened his eyes, he had time-leaped 12 years into the past.
