Hakkai finally lets it out in episode 8 of Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown titled “Strive Together.”

Takemichi continues fighting while being wholly beaten to a pulp by the Black Dragon boss. His sheer determination eventually brings Hakkai to the point where he reveals everything about his past.

He joins in the fight and takes on his older brother in a battle of fists instead of a knife, and Yuzuha watches from afar as her brother finally takes the protective role within the family.

The next episode will likely have Mikey reprimanding the Toman captains for breaking the truce, but also will probably take Taiju on in battle and defeat him. He will also likely hear Hakkai’s story and make an appropriate judgment of it.

Yuzuha will support him, too, since she now sees how much her brother has grown, and this will probably lead Mikey to lead to a favorable decision that keeps Hakkai in Toman.

Taiju beats Takemichi until he’s vomiting blood, but he continues fighting throughout as Hakkai stands powerless behind him. He continues fighting for the sake of protecting what he has now, people he can call his friends.

Through his sheer persistence and determination to continue fighting, he even lands a punch on Taiju. He tells Hakkai that fighting your hardest isn’t painful, but being alone is what truly hurts.

Hakkai goes on his knees and begs Takemichi to help him, and he now knows he has someone to confide in. He has no courage; however, his entire life, Yuzuha has been protecting Hakkai from Taiju and not the other way around.

Mitsuya talks about his life, too, it’s not just Hakkai who has lived a miserable existence, but they have all shared a part in the experience too. Hakkai removes his Black Dragon uniform and stands up to Taiju.

Hakkai throws a punch before Taiju can react, and they both engage in a fistfight, where Taiju eventually gains the upper hand and beats him to the ground. Takemichi and the rest of Toman are getting exhilarated at the idea of winning against Taiju now, and they don’t plan on running away.

Kisaki was behind the scenes pulling the strings in all reality, as he was the one who gave the knife to Yuzuha and incited her to kill Taiju. All the boys jump to fight Taiju together as they take punches individually.

Hakkai continues taunting Taiju as he takes him one-on-one and reaches his limit. On the brink of death, they hear Mikey’s bike outside as they finally regain hope. The boss walks in through the front gate and asks for an explanation.

Tokyo Revengers is a manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on March 1, 2017, and ended its run in November 2022. It is compiled into 31 tankobon volumes.

The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.
