Tokyo 24th Ward brings a mysterious modern twist to its viewers, and everyone is on board to see what lies for the protagonists. RGB is falling apart, and the trio is following their own ideals.
An unexpected turn with major reveals on the connection to the Kanae System. Why is 0th’s plan after the destruction of the Kanae System? I’m sure the coming episodes will reveal 0th’s reason for his motives.
The plot is getting interesting with the reveal of Asumi possibly alive. Will RGB realize Asumi needs their help to break free from the system data control? I think Kouki activating the app caused the override of Asumi’s consciousness, leading to more trouble.

Episode 8 Recap
This episode starts with 0th revealing to Shuta he is acquainted with Carneades. Shuta wants to talk to Carneades and gets told that the person he is looking for is in the Cornucopia tower. Meanwhile, Kouki studies his mother’s concept of the Kanae System.
As things progress, RGB gets a call from Asumi with another trolly dilemma. The vision shows a storm will cause the cranes on Cornucopia to malfunction and bring causalities. While on the other hand, a person who can stop the incident will get struck by lightning and die.
The person in the vision is portrayed as Carneades, which confuses Shuta as he heads towards the tower. The scene then shows Ran found out that 0th was involved with the Graffiti War and explained his reason as the Kanae System being dangerous.
0th also requested Ran to hack into the Kanae System to copy the data. Getting back to the current incidents, Shuta encounters Ran at the tower, who tells him sometimes they have to make choices. Shuta neglects Ran’s words and says he’ll save everyone.
Since connecting a call to the roof isn’t working, Shuta hurries to save Carneades. Unfortunately, Shuta is seconds late, causing Carneades to be struck by lightning. He then gets astonished to find out Carneades is Sakiko.
Meanwhile, Ran makes his way to the database and hacks the system with his boosted abilities. Connected with the framework, Ran finds intriguing data and copies it. Kouki recalls that Sakiko revealed she was Carneades and explained the bug with the Kanae System.
Apparently, Asumi’s consciousness remains in the system, and letting Kouki’s father know will make him heartbroken. Sakiko shared an app with Kouki that will protect Asumi’s secret in the system. Since Sakiko sacrificed herself to protect the system, Kouki activated the app.
On the other hand, Shuta saves Sakiko by performing CPR on Sakiko. This act reveals Asumi in the database, trying to make sense of the moment. Suddenly out of nowhere, powerful waves hit Asumi, causing an overdrive.
Ran sees the data acting odd and tries to leave the system but hears Asumi’s voice. Afterward, Ran finds out that 0th plans to destroy the system after the events are over.
Ran also asks what the Kanae System is since he worked closely with Mrs. Kanae. 0th reveals it’s a demon that destroyed his world.

Tokyo 24-ku is an upcoming original anime by CloverWorks which is scheduled to air in January 2022.
The anime takes place on an artificial island floating in Tokyo Bay, named “Kyokutō Hōreigai Tokubetsu Chiku” (Far East Special District Outside of the Law), nicknamed “24th Ward.” The manga centers on three childhood friends born and raised on the island: Ran, Koki, and Shuta.. But their relationships will change dramatically after a certain incident.
At a memorial ceremony one year after the incident, the three happen to meet again. They receive a phone call from a dead friend urging them to choose their futures.
