Tokyo 24th Ward brings a mysterious modern twist to its viewers, and everyone is on board to see what lies ahead for the protagonists. Tragedy seems to follow RGB since the events of GourFes, and it was sad to see Ran unable to save his friend.
Even though RGB is back together, more events are approaching them, no doubt. How will Ran and Kouki’s friendship proceed from here? What is the purpose of the new system the mayor is launching?
Ran might be questioned about the attack by Kouki next, and I’m sure an argument will spark up. The next episode will show the new system launched in the twenty-fourth ward. Will it be for good or cause more problems?

Episode 5 Recap
This episode continues RGB trying to figure out what to do with the new trolley dilemma. Ran is shocked that the terrorist in the vision was his friend Kunai and wonders why he would be involved in such a scheme.
While Shuuta and Kouki think the better option is to take out the terrorist, Ran states they can catch the culprit at a station close to the ship. Considering the facts from the vision, the three plan to take action.
Kouki tries to warn the ship’s captain about the attack and warn SARG about the attack. Shuuta says he will patrol the ship even without the intel of the bomb. The scenes then show Kunai’s past, how he struggled to keep up with Ran and his art.
Kunai wanted to be at par with Ran, but Ran surpassed him with skills always. Later the scenes show how Tarki approached Kunai to invest in his biometric music app. Kunai then finds out later that Tarki had ulterior motives and modified the app to use it as a drug.
He feels guilty and wants to tell Ran about his trouble, but the drug itself affects Kunai to act senselessly. Meanwhile, Ran goes to Kunai’s apartment to investigate further and finds that Kunai was involved in creating Drug D.
Even though the information is precise, Ran has a gut feeling Kunai was used in someone’s corrupt desires. He discovers Kunai was dealing with Tarki and connects the dots with the drug D events.
Later, Ran tells Kouki to go to the station to confront and catch the culprit. As Ran makes his way to find Kunai, he recalls how the answers were right in front of him the whole time. Ran confronts Kunai in a secluded location and tries to talk sense into his head.
The drug influences Kunai to activate the bomb, and Ran tries to stop him. Kouki orders to shoot, and a shot hits Kunai, taking him out. Ran is shocked by what happened and wonders if he should activate the bomb, considering people treat the weaker class.
Kouki stops Ran before dying and states he’s an artist who will change the world. The incident is over, and the news state the terrorist attack was handled without any major issues. Shuuta wonders what happened to Kouki and Ran since he can’t contact them.
In the end, the Mayor tells Tsuzuragawa to start preparing with Kanae System, which will change the twenty-fourth ward.
About Tokyo 24-ku
Tokyo 24-ku is an upcoming original anime by CloverWorks which is scheduled to air in January 2022.
The anime takes place on an artificial island floating in Tokyo Bay, named “Kyokutō Hōreigai Tokubetsu Chiku” (Far East Special District Outside of the Law), nicknamed “24th Ward.” The manga centers on three childhood friends born and raised on the island: Ran, Koki, and Shuta.. But their relationships will change dramatically after a certain incident.
At a memorial ceremony one year after the incident, the three happen to meet again. They receive a phone call from a dead friend urging them to choose their futures.
