One Piece recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with the release of the movie, One Piece: Stampede. 20 years on air has helped One Piece amass a considerable following, and the series has touched the hearts of anime fans worldwide.
Even though the ending of One Piece is nowhere on the horizon, there was some insight in a recent interview with Shinji Shimizu (Toei Animation) conducted by Ai Show. According to Shinji, the end of One Piece will be more surprising and influential than the death of fire-fist Ace.
Ai Show in Saudi Arabia recently conducted an interview with Toei Animation producer Shinji Shimizu, who gave us his view on the ending of One Piece. @sandman_AP tweeted out a summary of the interview, along with the actual video of the interview, which can be found below.

As noted by @sandman_AP, Shinji Shimizu knows how One Piece will conclude but is refusing to talk about it as Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the show, will get mad at him. Shimizu, however, gave his view on the ending:
“So many audience(s) were moved by the story of Ace, but I’m pretty sure the ending of One Piece will be much more touching.”
– Shinji Shimizu, Toei Animation producer
This statement carries a heavyweight as One Piece viewers know how influential and critical Ace’s death was for fans and for the protagonist of the show, Monkey D Luffy. Ace died in the Battle of Marineford, and his death paved the way for his brother’s dream to become the Pirate King, and saying that the ending will be even more sensitive for the viewers has only raised our expectations from the series.
About One Piece:
The man who had acquired everything in this world, the Pirate King, is Gol D. Roger. The final words he said at the execution tower were “My treasures? If you want it, I’ll let you have it. Look for it; I left all of it at that place.” These words sent many to the seas, chasing their dreams, headed toward the Grand Line, in search of One Piece. Thus began a new age! Seeking to be the greatest pirate in the world, young Monkey D. Luffy also heads toward the Grand Line in search of One Piece. With his diverse crew joining him along the way, consisting of a swordsman, marksman, navigator, cook, doctor, archaeologist, and cyborg-shipwright, this will be one memorable adventure.
