The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is causing ripples of disruption in the entertainment industry this year. Even with the entertainment industry trying it’s best to keep everyone in a better mood by providing them with much-needed content, some delays are inevitable.
One such delay is that of the new Today’s Menu for Emiya Family (Emiya-sanchi no Kyo no Gohan) based Nintendo Switch game.
The official website for the game announced on Wednesday, May 20, that the game’s release has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. The site also stated that it will announce a release date soon.
The game was supposed to be released this month in Japan. The original recipes from the manga and the anime, along with several new recipes will be featured in the game. “Tabete Ageru,” the game’s song will be performed by Sangatsu no Phantasia.
The anime debuted during the Fate Project Omisoka TV special 2017 on December 31, 2017, with 13 episodes. The series was aired on Abema TV in January 2018, with each new episode at the start of every month. Aniplex also started streaming the series on Crunchyroll during the same time, while Funimation started streaming it around November 26.
Aniplex described the anime as:
“Fulfilling meal…..a familiar view”. In this story, Fate and food meet in a delicious, gentle world. It is nothing but an ordinary meal scene….. Delicious meals are served at Emiya’s table every day, through spring, summer, fall, and winter. Let’s see….. What is for dinner today?
The original character designs for the anime were provided by the mangaka TAa along the original work Type-Moon. The food supervising was done by Makoto Tadano. The series was directed by Takahiro Miura and Tetsuto Sato. Studio uFotable animated the series and also took care of script production. The music was composed by Go Shiina.
The opening theme song, “Apron Boy,” was performed by DJ Misoshiru and MC Gohan while the ending theme song, “Collage,” was performed by Sangatsu no Phantasia.
About Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family
Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family (Emiya-sanchi no Kyō no Gohan) is a Japanese manga series penned and illustrated by TAa. Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up website has serialized the series since January 26, 2016. It has five tankōbon volumes as of February 2020.
The series is a spin-off of the Type-Moon’s Fate/Stay Night series. It is set up in an alternate universe in which the 5th Holy Grail War had ended with most of the characters surviving. They later end up becoming good friends and neighbors as well. The plot revolves around Shiro Emiya (the protagonist) and him cooking various types of Japanese cuisine daily for his friends and family.
