In Episode 8, Fushi learned another human stimulus that is the act of forgiveness. He kept his ego aside and brought Gugu back to the home.

1. Episode 9 Preview And Speculation  

Episode 9 is titled “Deep Memory.” As the title itself suggests, the next episode will dive into the traumas that Gugu faced in his past. We will get to know how his life was before he got the scars on his face.

In the preview, Fushi acquires a brotherly figure. By ‘brotherly figure,” the author means Gugu since he is the only person with whom Fushi can relate.

Fushi will bring back the mask that Gugu had abandoned in the last episode. However, I doubt if Gugu wants to keep his scars hidden behind the mask anymore.

3. Episode 8 Recap    

In Episode 8, Gugu runs away from the shop after knowing he has been experimented upon. He gets even more depressed on finding out that no one came to search for him.

He tries to find work, but everyone rejects him due to his scary appearance. Not only that, the villagers treat him like a monster and look down upon him.

Thankfully, a kind farmer takes him in and asks him to work in the field. Later he gets so impressed with Gugu’s work that he offers him to become a part of his family.

But everything changes when he reveals his scary face behind the mask. Even the housekeeper was scared of him and there’s no way that he can ever fit it with an appearance like that.

Meanwhile, Fushi has to take care of the store, cook food, and sow seeds in Gugu’s absence. Despite all the hardships, he won’t bring Gugu back for how he mistreated him.

Fushi even asks Pyoran to teach him everything but the old woman bluntly refuses. She wants him to make up with Gugu and learn everything from only him.

With no other options left, Fushi goes into the forest in search of Gugu. The self-claimed monster was about to get kidnapped by two thugs when Fushi arrives to save him.

Fushi transforms into the gigantic Spirit Bear and scares the two thugs away. Gugu breaks down into tears to see his friend, and he admits that Fushi is a cooler monster than him.

To Your Eternity(Fumetsu no Anata e) is a manga series by Yoshitoki Oima. It has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2016. Crunchyroll releases its manga in English. It is being adapted into an anime by Studio Brain’s Base and will be released on April 12th.

The story follows an immortal being named Fushi whose purpose is to gain knowledge of the world. He travels from Kingdom to Kingdom and witnesses humans displaying their emotions. As the story progresses, this being takes the form of an abandoned boy and his wolf.
