In the Zone, there’s no clear right or wrong – each faction has its own agenda and motivations. As a lone Stalker, you must choose the path that best serves your own interests.

Upon returning to the Slag Heap in STALKER 2, you’ll find it occupied by Ward soldiers and you’re directed to meet Dr. Dalin and Colonel Korshunov on the second floor. During the interrogation, you’ll have the option to show them the Unusual PDA. Here are the consequences of your choice:

  • Show the Unusual PDA: Receive the Ward Badge and an AKM-74S Combatant gun.
  • Don’t show the Unusual PDA: You won’t receive the badge, and the story will unfold normally. Additionally, Scar and Spark will remain non-hostile.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to proceed with this quest and make choices that will bring the best results for your character.

i. Quest Premise

After escaping the Plant, Diode summons you back to the Slag Heap. However, upon arrival, you discover that the Ward, a powerful organization, has taken control of the area. Diode is nowhere to be found.

A Warden directs you to go upstairs, where you encounter a soldier who allows you to pass after inquiring about Diode. Upstairs, you witness a cutscene where Colonel Korshunov and Dr. Dalin of the Ward interrogate Skif, revealing their knowledge of the secret Scanner project.

You’re then presented with a crucial choice: to reveal or conceal the Unusual PDA obtained from The Last One’s body. This decision will significantly impact the game’s progression.

ii. Initial Choices

  • Showing the Unusual PDA to Korshunov has its benefits. You’ll receive the Ward Badge and a unique AKM-74S rifle, the Combatant. The badge makes progressing through the main story easier, granting you access to different bases and smoother interactions with Wardens.
  • On the other hand, choosing not to show the PDA has future consequences. Scar and Spark will be less hostile towards you later in the game. However, you’ll need to complete the side mission “A Heavy Burden” to continue the main story and access Wild Island, requiring extra effort to progress.

iii. Later Choices

You’ll have multiple opportunities to show the Unusual PDA to others. Besides Korshunov, you can also show it to Scar and Strider from the Noontide faction.

  • Showing the Unusual PDA to Scar: This decision has no significant impact on the game’s progression. Regardless of your choice, the next quest will unfold normally, and Scar will still be hostile if you have the Ward Badge.
  • Showing the Unusual PDA to Strider: It’s recommended to directly show Strider the PDA. Choosing the “Your men did this” option won’t change the outcome. Strider will still request more evidence before taking action.

In general, showing the Unusual PDA to everyone is the best approach. Getting the Ward Badge will make it easier to progress through the main quest, unless you have strong reasons to oppose the Ward.

So that’s it for this guide on the Unusual PDA in STALKER 2! Remember, in the Zone, it’s every stalker for themselves. Make choices that serve your interests, and be prepared for the consequences.
