Torturing an enemy for confessing or divulging information is not uncommon. We often think of brutal and painful methods. ‘‘Tis Time for “Torture”, Princess’ namely uses torture, but the methods are not painful. The story is about a princess who is captured as a prisoner of war.
To ensure the victory of the demons, Torture Tortura takes advantage of a weakness not often considered – one’s curiosity and how to delight the five senses.
On Tuesday, a teaser and visual were released to announce that ‘‘Tis Time for “Torture”, Princess’ will get an anime adaptation. The main cast and staff were also revealed. The series will debut in January 2024.
In the video, the princess is shown in her cell with the legendary sword Ex, which has a mind and voice of its own. Torture Tortura appears with a demon carrying an iron maiden. She tells the princess that it’s time for torture. The princess expresses her determination in the end.

‘Tis Time for “Torture”, Princess’ is published online on the Shonen Jump+ website and Manga Plus since 2019. It has more than 200 million views and is collected into 11 volumes as of now.

The plot grabbed my attention right away and pretty much explained what I can expect from the series. The trailer does give an impression of sadistic pleasure, but it is far from ‘sadistic’. To sum it up, you won’t expect it, but it is going to be fun watching it, of course in a sane manner.

‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess (Hime-sama “Gōmon” no Jikan desu) is a manga series written by Robison Haruhara and illustrated by Hirakei. It began serialization in 2019 on the Shonen Jump+ website and later on Manga Plus as well. It is currently collected into 11 volumes.
The Imperial Army and the Hellhorde are at war for years. The princess of the Army is held captive with the legendary sword Ex. As per the treaty, brutal methods can not be used to torture. So, in an effort to make her spill all the secrets about her kingdom, the princess is subjected to “Torture” by tempting her with delicious food.
