Tires Ending Explained: Is Everything Okay Between Will and His Father?

Tires’ has officially premiered on Netflix, offering viewers a hilarious and entertaining dive into the auto repair world.

The series follows Will (Steve Gerben), an anxious inheritor of a struggling auto business, who reluctantly assumes the manager role. However, his employee Shane (Shane Gillis) seems intent on making Will’s life a series of comedic mishaps.

In Tires, Episode 5, Shane and Will brainstormed ideas to attract more customers to their failing auto repair shop. In the middle of their brainstorming, they came up with the idea of holding a bikini car wash program. The idea was that the ladies in bikinis washed their customers’ cars, hoping the scene’s appeal would attract more business.

1. Is Will’s low-cost tire offer successful?

Will previously suggested selling tires at low rates to attract customers. In Tires, Episode 6, Shane, intrigued by Will’s idea, decides to test this strategy.

Shane successfully sells tires to customers using Will’s idea. This idea drives sales and boosts the shop’s reputation for offering value and customer-centric services.

However, Will encounters many hindrances to prove this point to his father. He starts making a presentation in PowerPoint, but Shane’s teasing hinders him from doing so.

When Will’s father, John, comes, he gets irritated as Will’s friends enter the office with a cake. He thinks that it is a disrespectful gesture to the intensity of the business meeting. Will’s father loses all his cool and he snatches the key from Will and asks him to leave.

2. Does Will’s idea help him win over his father?

After Will leaves, Shane and his friend talk to Will’s dad about the cheap tire idea and how it worked out. They start giving details about the strategy, such as how it has increased customer traffic and the positive feedback, they get from all their customers. 

Shane emphasizes how such an approach has helped capture new customers and retain old ones, illustrating growth and sustainability.

Upon looking at the sales data and the actual results of the tire sales strategy, Will’s dad realizes the potential and effectiveness of Will’s idea. He decides to call Will back and apologize for his rude behavior. During the call, John said they should proceed with Will’s idea. 

The conversation ends on a hopeful note, where both father and son are excited about the future of their auto repair business.

3. Will there be a Tires Season 2?

Tires was renewed for a second season before the first season premiered on May 23. 

Tires is confirmed to return for Season 2 next year, though the exact release date is yet to be announced. The streaming service’s latest decision expands its partnership with the comedian, following the recently ordered standup special set to premiere in 2025.

Tires is a 2024 comedy television series starring Shane Gillis and centered on the employees of Valley Forge Tires. The series has been renewed for a second season.

A pilot for Tires initially appeared in 2019 on Shane Gillis’s YouTube page, but it was removed before the show premiered. Several years later Gillis invested in a six episode first season which was picked up by Netflix for distribution. The show premiered May 23, 2024. It was renewed for a second season on May 21, 2024.
