Chris Pratt has revealed a fun piece of information regarding the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special project.
Right from the red-carpet premiere for Thor: Love and Thunder, Pratt talked about an “inside joke” between powerhouse creators Taika Waititi and James Gunn.
The Star-Lord actor talked about how Waititi, the director for the previous and the upcoming Thor movie, had included space goats for the Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn.
“We got space goats! I remember Taika was like, you know he just wanted to stick James with some goats. He was like, ‘I’ve written a script mate, and I decided to put some goats in there and see what he’s going to do with them!’ So, James has to pick up where Taika left and he’s stuck us with some space goats.”

The host then asked Pratt if MCU directors played with each other by intentionally leaving something in one movie and watching the other person deal with it.
The actor revealed that there will be a few more things that are jokes from one director to another, as a sort of give-and-take in the improv comedy world that both directors are masters of.
“Typically no, but I guess Taika [Waititi] kind of plays by his own set of rules…you’ll see there’s a few things that he did that I think was kind of an inside joke to play on James [Gunn]. It’s a bit of that sort of improv world where you see what you can roll with.”

Since Thor banded together with the Guardians at the end of Avengers: Endgame, they will also make an appearance in the upcoming Chris Hemsworth-Natalie Portman starrer film. Post this, a special Disney+ feature, titled Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, is set to be released before the premiere of the third Guardians movie in May 2023.
As has been discovered through Thor: Love and Thunder trailer and rampant information from comic book sources alike, the goats in the spotlight here are Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, who pull Thor’s chariot across the sky.
This seems to be a great inclusion from the comics as Thor now has not only a great Viking ship that he can traverse the skies with, but also something that might pave the way for even more lore elements to be included.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see the fate of the space goats when Thor 4 arrives in theaters on July 8.
