Thermae Romae Novae, Netflix’s upcoming bathhouse comedy, will give you the best of the isekai world. The protagonist is an architect from the Roman Empire who gets isekai’d to modern Japan.
Well, good for him because he gets the perfect ideas for architecture, and when he goes back to Rome, he implements these to make one-of-a-kind bathhouses.
Netflix will debut the Thermae Romae Novae anime on March 28, 2022. It will be released worldwide, and a new English subbed trailer is here to give you a peek into the bathhouse adventures of Lucius:
The trailer shows how Lucius gets transported to modern Japan whenever he requires new ideas (how convenient). The catch is he almost drowns every time. So, try drowning if you need new ideas. (Do not.)
From water drainage, tasty snacks, onsen tamago to unbelievable new structures, Lucius learns so many new things on time-traveling. As he recreates these in his own era, he inevitably takes the position of the best architect.
All baths do not go to Rome——
“Thermae Romae Novae”
Worldwide exclusive distribution starts from March 28 ♨
The main character is Lucius, a bathhouse engineer of the Roman Empire (CV #津田健次郎 )
For some reason, it became possible to travel back in time to <Ancient Rome> and <Modern Japan>, and to incorporate Japanese bathing culture …!?
English Translation, Twitter Translate
The new visual shows Lucius portrayed with modern bathhouse necessities on one side and his recreations of them on the other. Sake, bathing crowns, and washroom shoes can be seen in the image.
Kenjiro Tsuda will voice Lucius and has previously lent his voice to characters like Ogata from Golden Kamuy, Hannes from Attack on Titan, and more.
Thermae Romae Novae is a unique series showing how the great Roman Empire is profiting from the modern world. It will be interesting to see how Lucius constructs modern gadgets in his own era.
Yet, what happens if he can’t time travel anymore? I can’t wait to see how he gets over such a huge creative block.
